(DEAD) 33% Off at Wherehouse.com (merged)

We received a Wherehouse flyer in the mail this week that has a 40% off used items coupon inside. I think it is good only for one item. The coupon says '4 days only' and expires April 27, so I think it may be geared as a Sunday newspaper insert. Look for it in your paper tomorrow or recycling bin if you've already thrown it out. I saw Seinfeld Seasons 1&2 for $24.99 which would make it about $15 with the coupon. They had some other individual DVDs for $6.99 like XXX which would be about $4.19.

Sweet..been meaning to stop by again anyways...

The one in my area is such a trashy store...but I keep coming back. :D

jiggawhat 04-25-05 08:14 PM

I got two of these coupons in the last couple months and every time I go to wherehouse I can't find a single thing to buy.

JiM T 04-26-05 02:04 PM

Has Wherehouse ever been known to have these coupons available in the store?

These are mailed out. That's how I got mine. So if you live close to one you should get one. It never hurts to try though.

Artman 04-26-05 07:25 PM

Picked up a used Mad Max SE for 6.50. Also took adanatage of the 2/15 sale and got Saving Private Ryan D-Day, and Fahrenheit 9/11. Didn't see the flyer/coupon in the store.

honeybefly 04-27-05 12:17 AM

I got a brand-new 14-DVD set of Are You Being Served for $99.99 with 40% off down to $59.99. This was still shrink-wrapped and had factory stickers, etc, but marked USED for some reason.

Jim 09-23-05 09:57 AM

Wherehouse is mailing these 40% off used coupons again. They also had a stack of flyers in the store that had the coupon. It can be pretty decent if they have a used box set you want. I was surprised to find a few decent deals on single DVDs too. Some examples:

Pirates of the Carribean $10.99 - 40% = $6.59
Master & Commander $7.99 - 40% = $4.79
Romancing the Stone $6.99 - 40% = $4.19

alfonsosoriano 09-23-05 10:55 AM

If only it worked on their online site.

Jim 09-23-05 10:59 AM

There was a code in the flyer for 33% off online purchases. I couldn't read the code on ours because the printing was blurry. I also don't remember if the 33% off was for anything or only used items.

alfonsosoriano 09-23-05 11:08 AM

Ah damn, anyone else know the code?

Jim 09-23-05 11:38 AM

Here's the 33% off code: ISC409OF
(note that the 5th char is zero and the next to last char is the letter 'O')

I did a quick test and it looks like it is good for 33% off your entire online order.
Expires 9/30 and valid online only.

Admiral Ackbar 09-23-05 01:02 PM

Is that only good on used or new too?

Jim 09-23-05 01:06 PM

[EDIT] It looks like the code is good for both new and used items.

This makes for some pretty good prices on some new box sets like Lost, Amazing Race, etc. Even when you factor in $2.95 for shipping (additional items are $1).

Some decent used deals:

All 3 of the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions are $15.33 each after the coupon is applied.
Survivor All-Stars is also $15.33 after the 33% coupon.

Jim 09-23-05 02:43 PM

33% Off at Wherehouse.com

I thought this code deserved its own thread so that it doesn't get buried.

Here's the 33% off code: ISC409OF
(note there is a zero and the letter 'O' in the code)

It appears to work for new, used, and pre-orders. I found some box set pre-orders that, even with $2.95 shipping, will be the cheapest online price. For example, the upcoming Amazing Race and Leave It To Beaver sets are cheaper than the best I could find with dvdpricesearch.

Shipping on additional items is $1. If you choose to have pre-orders shipped when they become available so that there are multiple shipments they will charge $2.95 for the first item in each shipment.

Unfortunately, this is not a good deal for me because of where I live because they also charge sales tax, so if you live in California, which is 8%, so that changes it from a 33% discount to a 25% discount for me plus when you add another 3 bucks for shipping, makes my total almost the same as paying Amazon prices.

This is not true if one has trade in credit. I traded
a bunch of dvd/games a while ago. They only
charged shipping to california. No tax.
I was actually surprised. As I had to pay about
$10.00 in cash to finish the order. Again no tax.
So this might be a good one for anyone with credit.

Jim 09-23-05 03:28 PM

Even with sales tax there are some good deals to be had. For example, The Amazing Race Season 1 is $31.98 there. Take off 33% and it's $21.32 + $2.95(shipping) = $24.27.
Add tax and it's a little over $26 ($26.21 in your case, $26.15 in mine). That beats DDD by about a dollar.

Another example is the Leave It To Beaver gift set. It's normally $55.98 at Wherehouse.com. With 33% off + $2.95 shipping it will be $40.27 + tax which would be $43.49 with your tax rate. DDD is $48 for the same thing and Amazon is $48.99.

Whoopee!!! One dollar!!!

Look, I'm glad you posted the savings code and I hope it will help others, but I just thought I would mention the sales tax thing. I'm not saying its not a good deal for you. What I said in my post is its not a good deal for me. I just pointed out that they charge sales tax, so its not really a 33% deal. I think 33% off by itself would be awesome, but after I figure sales tax and shipping charges, its not quite the outstanding deal it appears to be for me. Maybe if you live somewhere elese or have trade-in credit, more power to you.

ZakiHasan 09-23-05 03:49 PM

I just ordered the BUFFY CHOSEN COLLECTION, and even with shipping and sales tax in CA, that's a hefty 11 bucks savings on Amazon's already low price. I also separately ordered HE-MAN Season 1 and the BATMAN MOVIE ANTHOLOGY, and saved another 11 dollars over what the same two items would have cost at Amazon. Thanks to the OP!

nonametofame 09-23-05 03:57 PM

A profound thanks to the OP! Looks like there might a alot of good deals to be had. Of course, it helps to buy more than one item to save on shipping. Even with tax and shipping, there are some stellar deals. New criterions are a bit cheaper than DVD planet, brand new video games are 33% off, and you might find some jewels in the used section, which appears to get updated often.

Adboy151 09-23-05 03:57 PM

Thanks to the original poster... Preordered the Sin City: Extended Edition for $21.33, a couple of the upcoming Disney Treasures for $17.60 each and Harold Lloyd box set ($48).

Even with about $6 shipping those first three pre-orders looked pretty attractive to me... The Lloyd set still ends up being a few bucks cheaper even if DDD has 20% in November.

dadaluholla 09-23-05 03:58 PM

Does anyone know if this is a one time coupon (or can you use it more than once)?

gameover2k2 09-23-05 05:01 PM

place an order for 4 disney treasure.. save $12 over amazon for 4 set, i guess it's not that bad of a deal... since i have to get it anyway..

gameover2k2 09-23-05 05:19 PM

anyone know if wherehouse.com has game hardward for sale? that would be sweet..
