Block Buster trade in?

I know Blockbuster had a good trade in program a while back. Does anyone know how the program is now? Is there still a minimum per disk?

Just can't seem to watch standard DVD anymore, been watching High Def stuff on cable and PVR, Etc.

DVDs dont seem to sell for much at all on Ebay anymore, whats the best way to sell them?

I do have a few Criterion and oop I'll sell on Ebay but Im talking your average DVD.

WTF?

raidersrule86 09-04-05 11:51 AM

I'm wondering this too, I've got about 10 Fullscreen discs I need to dump.

Does Blockbuster still give at least $5 per disc?

I may have to just dump them at Gamestop for $2-3 per movie, and pick up a couple used movies with the credit.

And that's $3 credit at Blockbuster, not real money. I just dumped a lotta DVDs to Digital Eyes used program and got some very decent prices. It is still credit, but credit goes a lot further at Digital Eyes than it does at BBV. I always end up spending my dough on DVDs anyways, so it didn't really matter. You just have to box it up and ship it out, but I sold a lot of DVDs, so it was worth it. And the cool part is that you can still use the Digital Eyes coupons when you order with store credit.

Hey, you've been a member for almost a year. Learn the rules about threadcrapping!

To the OP - don't look for Blockbuster to ever bring back the $8 for anything trade-in deal. That was a publicity stunt to help get the word out that they're taking DVD's in trade. Now the program is working so well that stores that don't do trade-ins are more than well-supplied by the stores that do.

I wouldn't call that threadcrapping. There are many many many threads where the first post is telling someone to use the search button because it's a common thread. The op should have used the search button as he would have found it quite easially. Just because he doesn't want to hear it doesn't make it a threadcrap

fumanstan 09-04-05 08:30 PM

I don't think this thread is out of line, as I don't recall seeing too many BlockBuster trade in threads since they initially started. I didn't even realize they still had the trade in until I asked a buddy of mine a week ago.

I don't mind the $3+ credit at Blockbuster at all, since it was pretty easy to turn around and pick up some used DVD's there, especially with their 3 for $25 deal going on right now. Plus, I just don't like dealing with the hassle of shipping stuff. This was a good way for me to get rid of my old Truman Show disc, as well as Batman, Batman Returns, and Office Space in anticipation for the SE discs.

1. The person's tone was insulting. If they had simply said "hey, here's the thread you were looking for. You can find information like this by using the search feature," that would have been one thing. Instead it was "you've been a member for two years" and the wonderful and juvenile "newb" crack.

2. The search feature on this site sucks. I've tried to use it many times for threads I *knew* existed and *knew* the title of, and it wouldn't find the thread.

pestario 09-04-05 09:23 PM

I did do the search and couldnt find anything specific to the Blockbuster trade in program that was recent.

I appreciate the input on the Blockbuster program, I have learned long ago to take everything written in forums with a grain of salt ;)

I understand that, I don't think he meant to come off as mean as it looks like english is not his first language. Just saying that it doesn't sound like a threadcrap to me really.
oh and as for saying here's your thread and linking it. That's what the board is trying to get away from by telling people to use the search engine. (this does not pertain to anyone in general) Just because someone is too lazy to use the search they shouldnt' expect someone else to do the work for them and make posts everytime they need something looked up. We are not everyones secretaries looking up facts for them

Here's a suggestion for you - if you don't want to be someone's secretary then don't, and shut your yap and move on to the next thread. Maybe someone else is a better person than you and is willing to help someone else instead of referring them to a search function that sucks balls and can't find anything.

Christ, your attitude is a shining example of why these forums can suck.

well the thread WAS an adult thread before your last post. I in no way belittled anyone or said anything, but you had to come in here and start trouble. I'm going to let it go since i am reasonable, but remember you were the one that started flaming people on your first post in the thread whereas i was not insulting anyone at all

Oh and yes, the search feature doesn't work very wel sometimes. The main point is that you tried :) . I'm the last person who usually posts to use the search but i can understand people who do. No offense to you in my post at all. I never inteded that. Have a nice day :)

SoonerDoc 09-04-05 11:51 PM

the answer to the OP's question has been answered....the tone of the thread has plummeted to the point of no return...mods please close this bad boy.....

I was going to post the same info, but Gribalski stole my thunder!

I, too, was upset by BB's $3 credit program. I use Digital Eyes as well. They are very fair and easy to use. Only downside is that you have to pay shipping to get your DVDs to them, but if you sell lots of titles, the shipping per title is minimal.

Another easy way to sell DVDs is to use Amazon. It's like eBay's Buy It Now program. Only downside with Amazon is that they charge .99 per item sold plus 15% commission. You can pay $39.99 for a month to eliminate the .99 fee, but you need to sell a lot before it's worth it.

Hope this helps!

Are there any brick & mortar stores with better trade-in deals than Blockbuster?

I couldn't agree more. That's one of the things I like about this forum, they cut down on redundant threads and threads that lack a purpose (like when is the next ddd sale). The mods do a great job and what they don't catch, the members are allowed to step up and point new folks (who deserve a break) and lazy longtime members to the search engine.

And the suggestion of locating the thread and posting for the member is nice idea...but if I can take a couple fo minutes to provide that, why couldn't the other longtime member take the same couple of minutes and do it themselves? Is their time more valuable? The bottomline is cutting down on redundant threads and that's what the search engine is for...posting a link for someone doesn't accomplish that. Teach a man/woman to fish and they can eat forever. Give a man/woman a fish and they can each just once. Nd in some cases, we maybe forcing a man/woman to fish for their own good and the good of the overall forum.

Ron

fumanstan 09-05-05 11:43 AM

And in this case, searching for previous Blockbuster threads was entirely pointless, as evidenced by a one year old thread that was bumped earlier that was entirely misleading. :)

There are some topics that are worth searching for. Bargains, that revolve and change very quickly just aren't really one of them.

Jeraden 09-05-05 05:20 PM

Is the $3 a national thing? The Blockbuster by me still has signs up saying they give at least $5 per disc. Not sure if they really do or they just never got around to taking the signs down. Not really signs so much as shelf tags.
