whats the differance between the Alexanders
The reason that their are going to be two different "Alexanders" is becaue the director said the reason the movie didn't do so well in the theaters was because of the homosexual tendencies and the amount of character devolpement. So he went back and took about roughly 15 minutes of character development and the ("love" story between Collin Farel & Jared Leto), and put back in 8 minutes of action sequences...

The Theatrical Cut seems to be the definitive version...

Thanks, looks like the theatrical cut of Alexander for me. Hopefully it is cheap at BB or Wal-mart since we don't have a CC.

If it only cost $1.00, it'd be $5.00 more than the movie's worth.

No amount of editing could save that film. And I'm definitely an Oliver Stone fan -- I've seen 'Heaven and Earth' more than once.

I don't consider this a threadcrap, since it's bargain discussion not film discussion; I consider it a warning.

I couldn't find any advanced reviews or detailed info on the Ghostbusters set on the Internet. At Amazon there were a couple reviews that made it sound like the new release improves the picture quality because of a new anamorphic transfer and also adds some Real Ghostbusters cartoons and a scrap book, but then drops the audio commentary and trailers. Otherwise, it sounds the same.

Could anyone post more details so I'll know if it's worth upgrading my old ones? For me it sounds like the picture quality improvement would be the only reason, and I don't remember the non-anamorphic picture quality of the old releases being that bad.

The first Ghostbusters movie is anamorphic (I think the second one is as well). That is the only one I have as the second one doesn't interest me. If the great MST3K style commentary is gone there is definitely no reason to get the new version for me even if the transfer is a bit better.

How about reading the 10-page thread in the main forum?

The new transfers are nice and the set is cheap. I may have to get this one as well, but of course I will have to hold on to the original release of the first movie as well.

Yeah, when this was announced, it was said that the first film as fullscreen only. Does anyone know if both movies are in fact anamorphic widescreen? If so, it'll definitely be a purchase for me!

I wasn't going to upgrade my Ghostbusters discs but improved transfers at that price sounds like it's worth it. I'm definately getting a 2-disc Alexander but I'm not quite sure which version yet (though leaning towards the theaterical since I enjoyed it and I'm hearing bad things about the new cut).

Umm, any reivews comparing Alexander TC vs DC? Normally, the DC is a no-brainer, but with nutty Oliver Stone making the DC shorter, well I'm confused on that one.

DVDTalk has a review of the DC of Alexander, and the reviewer had seen the theatrical cut before (he recommended the TC over the DC).

Is it that hard to be a decent person and just answer the question?

If the thread was just one or two pages, I'd understand referring them to it. But to tell someone to search a 10 page thread when you could just answer their question?

Then read the last page. That has the answer you are looking for. It is worth it.

I believe so. It is the new version of BSG. And AFAIK the only version available in the U.S. right now is the UK version that BB sells.

Thanks for the BB info Kevin. I think the 3 for 25, 6 for 40 deal is already active because I saw a display in my local store last night.
