Pick it up... you won't regret it. I bought it when it first came out and watched it with my wife and 6 year old son. We loved every minute of it!! Fantasticly made movie!! |
The Disney sale at Best Buy is a must for me. Don't forget to look for the Disney gift cards at your store. There's a coupon that takes $5 off 2, $10 off 3 or $15 off 5 Disney DVDs. :)

There are many different types of gift cards in psuedo-jewel cases at BB. The ones in question are pretty easy to recognize when one actually locates them, because they are mini-cdroms in the shape of a gift card. The card itself has a blue background, barcode along the right-hand edge, and pictures of (clockwise from top): Mickey as a musketeer, Mulan, Simba? (Lion King), Jasmine (Aladdin), Aladdin and Abu (the monkey) (Aladdin), and a couple cows from Home on the Range (I think). These particular gift cards have a coupon on the back of the cardboard backing that can be used as Casey described. Simply purchase the gift card by charging it with however much money you want (in a case like this, I usually charge it with approximately the amount I intend to spend on my Disney purchase, but the card itself need not be used for a Disney purchase, it can be used for anything), and then go back and buy the dvds using the coupon. As stated, I usually use the gift card on the Disney purchase itself, but I think some people actually give them as gifts ;) |

They've also told me you can't combine coupons and reward zone certificates, so maybe that's why they had to do it manually. I always get a few extra ones....because I know once Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving sale) rolls around they always have Disney DVDs for $10...last year they had Aladdin. :)
You've been lied to, or at least misinformed (depending on whether they gave false information intentionally or by accident). If no one is behind me in line, I often charge up a GC and then immediately use it in a separate transaction. I have also used coupons with RZ certs many times, I think the only caveat is that the coupon can't bring the price down below the value of the cert. BTW, for those who are interested, there are other BB GCs with benefits, including: Movie Gift cards -- Not the great deal that the Disney or GGC (see below) is, but better than nothing, the movie gift card has a coupon on the back good for a total of $2 off 2 dvds that are $14.99 or more each. People have reported being able to use this on dvds that are less than $14.99 each, but I have not tried. Gamer Gift Card (GGC) -- The best of the gift cards, at least for those who are into video games. $5 off any vg or accessory $19.99 or more. Some BBs have replaced these with console specific and publisher specific cards that aren't quite as good (games $29.99 or more), so YMMV. |

I've used numerous giftcards immediately after purchasing them as well (Gamer's and Disney).

Anyone know if the Manchurian Candidate for $6.99 at CC is the new version. Since it has been out for awhile I would guess it is. For some reason I still have not picked it up and for that price I would make the trip.
|
verify many universal circuit city 6.99s?
they do not appear on the weekly ad website. |
my CC ad from the paper this morning has Reservior Dogs, Copland, The Mack, Hoffa, Dune SE, State Property, Contract Killer, Thin Line between Love and Hate, Rain Man, Dead Presidents, Manchurian Candidate (denzel version) The Pianist, Road Trip, American Pie, Animal House, Best Man, Field of Dreams and Lost World under the $6.99 section.
i'll probably pick up Bourne Supremacy from Target. Never like it in theatres, and the shaky cam complaints kinda scared me off, but i liked Identity and $10 isn't a bad deal. |
Just got back from BB. They had plenty of the Disney titles (probably 30 each). I picked up Mulan and Brother Bear, using the Disney Gift Card for an extra $5 off, bringing them to $6.49 ea. Unfortunately, there were no Mulans left with the slipcover. There had been 2 or 3 sitting there for the last few months, but I could never bring myself to pay $19.99 for it. Oh well, you snooze, you lose.
|
Of the 6 Disney titles listed for $8.99, the only one I don't have is Brother Bear. I'd love to be able to get an extra $5 ($2.50 each) by using the Disney gift cards, but it doesn't look like I can... unless...
Does anyone know what would happen if I bought 2 Disney DVDs for $8.99 - $5 off Disney coupon and then returned 1 of them later? Would they take away all $5 of the coupon or pro-rate the coupon to let me keep $2.50 of it on Brother Bear? I'd probably only put $5 on the Disney gift card, and I assume I could use that gift card for part of the purchase and then use a credit card for the remainder? I would hope the return of the 1 DVD would go back onto the credit card first. If the Pirates of the Caribbean were the 3-DVD release instead of the old 2-DVD release I already have, then I might be able to justify a re-buy at $6.49, but the picture shows the 2-DVD edition. |

I picked up the 4 Disney titles I was looking to get this morning, however, the coupon only took off $10.00. Still a great deal and I'm happy! :) Thanks OP!

Anybody notice when you put your mouse over Dune on the Circuit City ad, it says it's a 3 disc set. Is this a typo cuz the website says it's a 1 disc.

just an fyi, the best buy disney coupon will only work if you buy 4 different titles. With one exception, it will let you use it if you buy 2 copies of the same movie by themselves.
I found this out today. Would not let me have the 4th movie discount because I bought 2 copies of Aladdin. |
That would suck. Last Thanksgiving, I bought 3 copies of Aladdin and Mulan and a similar BB/Disney giftcard coupon took $15 off. Yeah, the Mulan was at full price $19.99. Yick!
|
I got Aladdin and Mulan when Toys R Us had them buy one get one free. But this is a great deal on them though.
