Goddamnit. Eckerd closed all of their Texas locations...it's just CVS now. I'd have cleaned up on the Disney titles.

With the recent Eckerds $6.24 deals and the Sears $7.50 deals, some people have been scoring big time on DVDs I bought within the last year for about twice as much. Sometimes these stories almost make me want to stop buying any DVD until it's under $8... the only problem is that these deals don't seem to occur in my area.

If CVS bought out Eckerds, did those Eckerds stores become CVS stores or did they remain Eckerds? Do (or did) states like CA, AZ, or NV ever have Eckerds stores? I tried using the Eckerds web site store locator and I got no results except for CA and when I clicked on those results the next page said the store was not found.

The Eckerds in Texas that got bought by CVS either turned into CVS, or were completely closed in lieu of other CVS stores popping up elsewhere.

I went to a few Eckerds and it looks like people cleared out all of the good titles during the 50% sale. The selection was very sparse with a lot of cartoon (non-Disney) titles.

Might have to check again. Thanks for the info.

Just got back from 2 different Eckerds. The first one said it was only titles that were previously 50% off that are not 75% off. New releases don't apply. When I asked her to check "The Incredibles" on VHS, it did apply so who knows.

I got Elf 2-disc and Alice In Wonderland 2-disc both for $6.49 each.

Second stop at another Eckerds had slimmer picks. They had some nice ones (spider-man 2, the villiage, anchor man, catwoman) but they were all full screen. They all came up for $6.49 though. I didn't get anything there.

All the signs say 50%, they will ring up as 75% off. 6 Eckerd search for me, oly Disney classic I could come away with was Mulan, but it was fun looking anyway, nice warm night for a drive, at least that's usually my excuse for a county-wide DVD hunt.

Thanks for the post. Went to 3 stores.
1st store had everything properly marked & stacked on the checkout counter. I picked up:
Bambi $5.49
Mulan $6.24

they also had:
Incredibles (fullscreen)
Spongebob movie (fullscreen)
The Grudge
Bridget Jones (fullscreen)
disc of Spongebob tv episodes for $3.74
Dora the Explorer
a stack of single episode tv show discs like Jonny Quest, Gilmore Girls, ER, Flintstones, Kung Fu, some scifi show...
& some PS2 games for $1.97: Starsky & Hutch, High Heat Major League Baseball 2004, Hard Hitter Tennis, & another I can't remember.

The other 2 stores' DVDs were still marked 50% off, but rang up 75% off. 1 had them on a table in the middle of the store with other clearance junk & the other had them in a small spinning rack near the checkout. I picked up Alice In Wonderland & Pirates of the Caribbean & left behind Collateral, Freaky Friday, some Disney Princess thing, some VHS, & not much else.

The sale was a bust for me. I visited all 4 local Eckerd locations but ended up not buying anything.

I saw:
Anchorman (at 2 or 3 locations)
The Village FS
Alamo FS
Harry Potter/Azkaban FS
plus a few other random titles

Out of the 4 stores I visited, none had more than 20 or so DVDs total, while one store only had 2.

Also a jackpot for those on Long Island. There are 21 in a 15-mile radius for me, with 7 or so in a 5 mile radius. I picked up Spiderman 2 for $6 and Frequency for $3.25, and I saw Shrek 2 and Harry Potter: Prisoner of Aszbakan for $7 and $6 respectively.

I'm looking for:
Star Wars Trilogy (it would be $14.99, a FWer said a store 30 miles away from me had it )
The Incredibles
Spongebob Squarepants: The Movie

I went to another Eckerds and still didn't find any Disney etc.

But I did decide to pick up The Bronx Tale and Fort Apache, The Bronx for 2.99 and 1.99 (respectively). Not too bad. I had to get some milk anyway.
