I just ordered Essential Steve Mcqueen. On the rebate form it says
"Coconuts.com order confirmation email dated 6/05/05-6/19/05 and packing slip."

I am assuming that the packaged slip doesnt have to have dated before 6/19/05. I think it will go in the mail within the next week but of course no guarantee of them doing so.

Can someone who bought the Essential Steve McQueen tell me if you have to cut the slipcase for the UPC of if there's a sheet on the back (like for The Simpsons)?

What i'm planning on doing is exchanging it at the B&M so I can get the price sticker. Then use that for the rebate. Thank god there's a Coconuts near me.

Even if it's run by incompetents.

If anyone does find a rebate form for Rescue Me season 1, please post. According to the fine print of the online ad, it should be for a whopping $15 off. So, if we could combo that with the 20% discount it would be a sweet $13 before taxes.

PS - rescue me is Denis Leary's firefighter cable series, definitely top notch.

I'm very tempted to get Sopranos Season 3 for 31.99, anyone know if it comes with one of those extra pieces of paper on the back w/ the UPC?

I'm very tempted to get Lost. My only concern is cutting the box. I'd rather not, does anyone have a guess about what the sales might be at B&Ms (not coconuts, none where I live)? I'm guessing, given the popularity of the show that it'll be a good sale, but less than 31.99, pre-rebate?

Also, just a heads up, even though this is dvd talk, the coupon can be used on books.

thanks op - i'll give simpsons season 6 as a try for my first coconuts online and preorder, and rebate thing... only because i know it's a slipsheet and not the package - no amount of money is worth marring the box...

What is the harm of cutting the box?

Plus, most of these DVDs are significantly cheaper than anywhere else. Is the box that important? You don't even have to ruin the box to get the UPC out.

Oh, but this is DVDTalk, the land of those who complain when their insert is missing. Owning a dvd box in less than pristine condition is sacrilege!

I was kidding, put me in the camp of those who don't really care what we have to go through as long as we get a good deal. DVDs are expensive enough as is, we have to make the best of it sometimes.

I am not seeing these prices.

I get, after rebate:
Simpsons S6 $23
Dead Like Me S2 $20
Lost S1 $30

Even if you subtract 20% from these prices you don't get the prices listed in the original post.

Simpsons S6: 32.99 * .8 = 26.39 - $10 = $16.39
Dead Like Me: $29.99 * .8 = 23.99 - $10 = $13.99
Lost S1: $39.99 * .8 = 31.99 - $10 = $21.99

Factor in the Rebate after the 20% off.

I'm semi-tempted to go after Lost and Desperate Housewives, though does anyone know if Coconuts accepts the proof of purchase tabs (such as those on the WB sets and the Alias sets) for the rebates, or do you need to go with the upc on the box?

If we can find the Rescue Me rebate I'd probably pick that one up.

I've never seen or been to a FYE or Coconuts store because they are not in my area, but I thought I'd preorder this and hope I won't regret it. I think unless somebody has it for under $24.99 on release week it should work out.

What I found strange about ordering online is that the secure connection lock symbol didn't appear in IE 6 on most pages even though it said https. Hopefully it was still a secure connection.

If anyone finds out that the Simpsons Season 6 will be different than all the previous seasons in that the UPC code will no longer be on a separate lightly glued piece of paper, please post about this as soon as you know.

Like a previous poster said in this thread, the only reason I'm doing this rebate is that I don't expect to have to mutilate my Simpsons Season 6 box. If I get wind that I will have to ruin the box, I wouldn't want to do the rebate and I might want to cancel the order (it would depend how much the set sells for on release week). Thanks to Costco and Fry's, predicting a Simpsons new release season price is almost impossible... anywhere from $19.99 to $34.99. $26.39 + tax is a decent price, so the probability of nobody beating it is good, but I think someone mentioned that FYE online had them cheaper last time.

they won't but since they're Buena Vista DVDs, they might have an extra UPC Sticker over the original UPC.

Also, this deal is good at FYE.com as well

Why is there a $15 MIR for Seinfeld Season 4 in-store but not on their website? No B&M stores in my town. Arghhh....
