I heard Disney is temporarily lowering the price on these 4 Miyazaki DVDs. They did the same on a few Disney DVDs such as Mary Poppins and Finding Nemo few months ago.

Since these are Disney titles, they qualify for the coupon on the back of the disney gift card which is buy 2- save $5, B3S10 and B4S15 which really makes them affordable.

The BBY's in New Hampshire still have these gift cards out in the DVD section - in fact there is now a Disney-specific DVD section (stupidest marketing idea ever, now you have to remember if the title is Disney or Fox, or HBO or if it goes in the regular drama/action/etc sections) with the gift cards in a case that looks like a CD-ROM.

This must be a new Disney promotion, because I saw the same titles, same prices (as the OP found at Best Buy) on a featured display at a local Wal-Mart.

No doubt, it is temporary. It's piggybacking on the Friday's theatrical release of Howl's Moving Castle.

There's a way to make this REALLY work for you!

Mediaplay has a deal for 15.99 on all of Miyazaki's dvds. But here's the trick, there's also coupons in all these. Nausicaa, The Cat Returns, and Porco Rosso have a coupon for a free Miyazki dvd through the mail if you buy all three. You can choose one of these: Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, or Kiki's Delivery Service.

Then Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and Castle in the Sky all have coupons(for use on one title only) for $2 off of Kiki's, Spirited, and Castle, or Princess Mononoke....So you should can buy any of the above one at a time and get a coupon to make all but one 13.99 or if you can find a friend with an extra coupon, which I did, you can get them all for 13.99. Then you buy Nausicaa, The Cat Returns, and Porco Rosso and get the free dvd. Mediaplay sells used dvds, so I brought those in as well. I got $3.50 for a DOLLAR dvd!!

Nausicaa-15.99
The Cat Returns- 15.99
Porco Rosso-15.99
Spirited Away-13.99
Princess Mononoke-13.99
Castle in the Sky- 13.99
Kiki's Delivery Service- Free

$89.94

Less $37.50 in trade

Final price for a complete set of U.S. Miyazaki's:$52.44 without tax
Had I paid full price in a B&M without the sale, it would have been $163 plus tax.

Just checked Suncoast, Mediaplay and Sam Goody .coms for the three latest Miya flicks. All were priced at $29.99. Is this a B&M thing only?

Lol,

well the store sure didn't notice it! Guess I REALLY got a deal then. They just scanned them and corrected the price. And yes, it's a B&M only deal.

Princess Mononoke is technically Miramax, so I don't know if they'd allow that to qualify or not. I bought Kiki's x 2, Castle, and Spirited Away, and they had to do a manual override to get the coupon to work anyway.

FYI, I saw Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, & Kiki's Delivery Service @ Wal-Mart (B&M) for just under $15 too.
