Warm deal for Fear & Loathing in LV: Criterion (Walmart - YMMV)

Picked up Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: Criterion at Wal-Mart in Webster, TX today for $30 and change. About a $1.50 more than DDD but not bad if you don't want to wait for their shipping. I thought it was really interesting that they had this being Walmart.

Yeah, I was shocked when I saw it at a local Wal-Mart last week (same price)...I'm wondering if they were just trying to cash in on HST's recent suicide.

I first saw it on the shelves at the Wal-Mart nearest me a couple of weeks before HST's death.

So unless they knew something we didn't know, it's just a coincidence.

I saw it too and I was shocked at the sticker price - then I said "Oh, wait: I'm in Wal-Mart.

DVDPlanet has it for 25.96 - where I got my copy (before his death). Thing is: My friend wanted a copy for his collection after his death ( ) and DVDPlanet was OOS of the title - and it took almost a month and a half to get it shipped after ordering.

Oh and DVDPlanet have, in my experience, been really quick to ship my items and I receive them in a VERY timely fashion.

But what am I saying? Good job on your selection. And if it makes you feel good: that's all that matters.

Basically I posted this for the people who don't order online, want it right then. My situation was I had a gift card to spend so why not this. Partly I posted for the novelty of thinking it was very odd to see this type of title in Walmart at all given the content.

This is $29.99 at Best Buy as well I think. Same price at Blockbuster. Even VirginMegastore has it on sale for $29.99 now.

Borders had a set-up of the dvd and a few of HST's books. They were definately milking the suicide.
