(DEAD) Pee-wee's Playhouse Volume 1 & 2 for $20 Each at Amazon.com

Taken from DVDPriceSearch.com

These are 60% off each at Amazon.com. You can get both volumes for $40. I'm not a Pee-Wee Herman fan but some are so this would be a good deal for them.

I just got done ordering them and was about to post the deal here myself.

For those of you who want all the bells-and-whistles with your DVDs, Reubens has been very vocal about his plans to re-release this series in the near future in a special box set featuring commentaries, behind-the-scenes footage and other extras. To quote an Amazon reviewer, "Real fans will want to wait, if they can stand it."

Yeah, I've been waiting for the extra-packed releases.

Maybe the ones that are out aren't selling like hotcakes because most of the people that would buy this show want it with extra features. Not in the bare bones release that has been scraped together and thrown at us.

I would tend to agree, if the majority of America was hitting the dvd message boards. However I think many members (myself included) only know these things because we read this forumm or others like it. The vast majority (where the real profit is) don't run out because of special features, nor do they stay away for lack of them.

I tend to think that it's not selling that well because Pee Wee Herman is a niche market. It's not very mainstream cuz this was a somewhat wierd show and lots of kids these days may be freaked out by it. Many who grew up watching the show are in their 20s now. Also, when ppl think of Paul Reubens these days, they think of that guy that got caught jerking off in the movie theater.

He got caught buttering the popcorn. I think that left a bad tastes in the mouths of many and steered some possible sales away. I'll think about picking up the sets when they drop as "Special", but I'm staying away from the bare bones releases. I'll just borrow them from my brother if I ever get the urge to watch them.

Sweetness, now I can get v2. Myself and my daughter have been watching v1 for the last week and she loves the show. Unlike some other shows from my childhood I still find Pee-Wee's Playhouse extremely entertaining.

I'm getting these even though I know a SE is coming down the pipleline. Part of me doesn't believe they'll ever see the light of day and the other part of me isn't sure if I really want to hear the commentary on each episode.

Yep, looks dead. Congrats to those of you who got in, nice price.
Anyone have any more details as to the 'extras' on the Special Eds?

I always like Dixie, the Postal Worker on the show. She has since changed jobs and now runs the detective squad on Law & Order.

Damn, I missed it, too. Shouldn't have waited. I just don't have the cash this month, forty buck or otherwise, but my sister would've give me her two hottest friends for that set.

how did these sell when they had the sale?

I'm hoping they mark down the prices again.
