West Side Story SE - $7.50 at Target?!

I received my flyer from Target this week and they have a list of DVDs on sale for $7.50. Nothing great, the usual, predictable stuff. But, lo and behold, pictured is a copy of the SE of West Side Story! The one that can't be had for under $20. It's most likely a misprint, but will they honor it? The sale starts tomorrow.

Target is notorious for using the Special Edition picture for the their 7.50 sales ad and then not honoring it once you get to the store. They usually don't honor it by simply not having one single copy of the Special Edition pictured and a plethora of the raggedy bare bones editions of the movies.
It has happened to me on the:
Dances With Wolves Special Edition
The Good, the Bad , and the Ugly Special Edition

However, Wal-Mart did match their price on both of these sets. Its sad business for Target in my opinion.

Target has done this once before with West Side Story, actually. That was a while ago.

So you think I can get this set for 7.50 at Wal-Mart? That's just as good.

The Dances With Wolves SE was honored and the price on the SE did ring up at 7.50 by midweek.

Yes, and I got the SE, but it took me a lot of time and effort at the store. There was no disclaimer posted at the doors, so I got the one and only SE copy my local Target had.

A big YMMV. The PM will be a big enough difference that the cashier will have to get approval from a superior. I was able to get The Good, the Bad and the Ugly for $7.50, but I was turned down on some others. It all depends on what mood the boss happens to be in at the time.

It wasn't at my Wal-mart - I'll try to PM at Circuit City as they take an additional 10% off. $6.75 for a DVD that retails for $30 ain't bad

I was able to price match at Circuit City this last time Target screwed up. I didn't get the extra 10% but I wasn't complaining!

I just wanted to point out that this phenomenon, which happens rather frequently, is a good argument in support of studio double dipping.

Just came back from Target in Mount Vernon, NY. They didn't have it anywhere. But they did have the regular edition right above the sign for "$7.50 West Side Story Special Edition". I asked and received a raincheck. I'm gonna keep the ad because the raincheck does not specifically say "special edition"

anyone else have luck at Target?

Target, Circuit City, and Walmart by me only had the non-SE version.

Best Buy honored it. Picked it up, tax included, for under $8.

I tried to get this matched at CC a while back and they refused. I guess it all comes down to how nice (or clueless) the people are.

natevines, you must have a lot of copies of the flyer. each time i try to PM, they always keep the ad.

I drove to another Target and they had only one left and honored the price. I tried CC but they were too smart, they kept me waiting for over 20 minutes while they called Target to confirm the price. no dice there. I must say this is a change. Usually i find it harder to PM at BB and easier at CC

I watch it this morning it's really good for a movie that's 44 years old (1961)

They always cut out the part of the flier with the cheaper price. I actually got a bunch of fliers from Target. I thought they'd have them out in front like most stores, but they have them behind the guest services desk. The lady gave me a hard time when I asked for a bunch, but she gave them to me anyway. I also found a couple of stray ones in shopping carts on my way out.
In terms of the PM, it only took a few mins at CC so that they could contact the manager. At BB it was really easy. He just scrutinized the ad to see if it was the same DVD and wrote up some form and gave it to me.
