Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit at Bestbuy.com (maybe)

I wasn't quite sure where to put this so I figured I would put it here and if it needs to be moved, I'm sorry. So I order the Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit from Best Buy.com on Jan.31. I had a $10 digital coupon so I figured what the hell, I had to use it so I would get something I have been kinda wanting and at least 3 movies for $15 is a good deal. I tried in store pickup but no stores within a 100 mile radius had it so I had it shipped to me. Well after I post a rant about Best Buy in another post today, I go to the post office and it came in. I bring it back home and to my disbelief, I got the red cross version!!! Needless to say I was very happy. Anyone looking for this may want to try Best Buy.com. The sku is 000004739956.

Actually this is a nice bargain, in the proper thread. I saw the "Red Cross" version go for over a hundred bucks on eBay a while ago. That version is out of print. I got mine back in 2002 for $24.99 at BB.

And from what I've read there were only 20,000 red cross versions made.

If you got it at Best Buy, it ought to be the 'Red Cross' version with the bonus 4th disc, which is even more valuable.

Wow. I have the red cross version with the 4th disc. Actually bought it to watch. (Cheezy b-flicks and slasher movies are one of my vices.) Never thought it would be worth $$$. Not that I'll sell! $^)

Well, figured I'd try and order it. If it's not the set with the extra disc, I suppose I could just return it to a Best Buy store. (yes, I can be a rarities whore ) But for the price, I may keep it anyway regardless.

I saw this last week at a Best Buy in my area. I don't know why I didn't pick it up. I just went back to see if they had it and couldn't find it.....although I didn't look very long b/c some dude with the worst BO ever was browsing the collector sets aisle and I could only last a minute or two.

Sorry to dissapoint you guys, but the red cross version isn;t getting even close to $100 on ebay. I searched completed and all are ending in the high 30's. Some without any bids. So don't buy any with the thought of reselling later...

To add to the fact that is is not that expensive, the 4th disc is pretty common, and quite frankly it sucks pretty bad. It is a fun set though.

Oh, sure, but it's more valuable with it than without it.

I thought the $100 seemed specious ... was that one signed or something?

No, it was just after all the fuss the Red Cross made about having to pull their logo off the set, the prices jumped high on eBay when that version went out of print. It was about a year ago when some were going for over a $100 on eBay. They are selling them used on Amazon for $44-69 right now.

Got mine yesterday, red croos, bonus disc, and all. So I'll be keeping it after all. I saw one of these aaages ago, so it'll be amusing to see how bad it really is after all these years.

Yeah, sadly the Red Cross with 4th disc is pretty common, nowadays. Saw 3 of them at my local BB a few weeks ago, and thought it was weird since it'd been over a y ear since I'd found mine there. The 4th disc is pretty much softcore trash, but the boxset is definately worth it.

Although you guys seem to have no problem finding the "Red Cross" editions @ your BBs, it is still a YMWV. I went to my 3 local BBs & found only the later version - no Red Cross. Decided to check out CC while I was out & didn't see even 1 of either version @ 2 stores. Guess I'll keep looking.

I'd still try to order thru BB.com. I got one no problem. And if it's not what you're looking for, then just return it to the store!
