What will Anchorman cost at Target opening week?
All I see is 'Low Price' is that usually $15.99
Any help would be fine, if not I'll just bring some cash tommorow and find out myself.

Might want to check the bargins forum for store prices. Usually when "low price" is placed there, look at the nearest price on the next item closest to it.

The Target ad has Anchorman, Open Water, and Resident Evil: Apocalypse right next to eachother.

Open Water's picture is smaller than the two on either side of it, and a price of 15.99 IN BIG NUMBERS is placed above it.

This isn't rocket science. Do you think the stores are really trying to confuse you?

It's $15.99. That price is for each of those DVD's above.

Actually I think stores DO confuse customers with most of their ads. Do you know what "low price" means? I know I sure as hell don't. Ads out now have so many prices spread out across the page you can't help but be confused at first or even second glace. Just for example this week the Simpsons in the Best Buy ad is placed inbetween Sienfeld ($29.99) and South Park (39.99) with simply a "low price" on the cover of the Simpsons. When I went to Best Buy (since someone in the bargins fourmed mentioned the Simpsons S5 would be only $29.99, and obvliously they got confused too) there wern't even any price tags near it stating the price. Two seperate places where it was stocked, and no price to be found. Also on the Best Buy ad is Anchorman placed next to Old School. Old School is clearly priced at $14.99 while Anchorman has "hot price" next to it. Since Anchorman has a bigger picture does that mean it's also $14.99? Same with the Fox box sets, no prices next to them inside the store. Now if you can look at that Best Buy add and tell me exactly what all the prices are, more power to you.

Open Water is $15.99. Anchorman and RE are both "Low Prices". Most of the time these "low price" gimmics are $14-$17. It just says that as it forces you to actually go in said store and check it out for yourself. It doesn't say that each are $15.99.

Every single time I've gone into a store for as long as I've been buying DVD's, the "Low Price" is always the same price as whatever the item closest in the ad to the Low Price item is. It never fails, this is how the stores tell you their low price without "really" telling you. Many people on this forum know this, and it's been discussed quite a bit. There's no need to go into the store, it's right there in the ad. Try it for the next few weeks, and you'll see the person you were trying to make fun of is actually correct, and that you may need to take your foot out of your mouth.

yup. That's the logic I've always gone into the store thinking. Look at the nearest price. On some items they aren't allowed to advertise lower than a specific price, but they do so by just tagging it along with the other items near it.

Exactly, they can't name the prices for some of these DVD's, so they put them next to ones that they can. It's not done to confuse people, it's done so you actually know what the price is without them actually breaking the rules of the studios.

They want you to know what the price is. Don't blame the stores for this, blame the studios. If stores could, they'd slap those prices on there because they want you to see that low price and come in. If you don't know the price, why would you bother going there?

Sometimes, they do confuse people by not being clear, but that's not their goal.

As for the Best Buy ad: Anchorman will be $14.99, that one is pretty obvious. The Simpsons one is actually one of the more misleading I've seen in a while. The $29.99 from Seinfeld hangs over a bit to where you could take it to mean The Simpsons is going for that price. But look where the Low Price box is...it's over on the other side, near the South Park DVD, which is $39.99. A quick check of their website confims that Season 5 is $39.99. This is a rare case where I think BB did actually try and mislead people.

Still you could possibly use that to your advantage. If BB is charging $39.99, maybe you could use the confusion in the ad to do a price match elsewhere for $29.99.

Now that I look at the BB ad again, I see alot of potential misleading of people. That big $14.99 above Garden State, that big $15.99 over Napoleon Dynamite. Yeah, they have $19.99 slapped on them, but a quick look might give different ideas.

Could this be Best Buy's newest attack against devil customers?

I paid $15.99 at Target today for Anchorman. Of course I had one of the $2 Entertainment coupons and a $10 gift card for transferring my prescription to Target so I wound up paying $3.99 plus tax ....

Best Buy has the 2-disk version for $24.99 PLUS it includes the extra BestBuy exclusive disk (in shrinkwrap). That's 3-disks: 2 in separate boxes, plus the third in a sleeve.
