Barnes & Noble online $3.99 sale (misprice?) on Francois Truffaut/Antoine Doinel DVDs

LOVE ON THE RUN
CONFIDENTIALLY YOURS
BED & BOARD

These 3 classic titles from the "Antoine Doinel" series from Francois Truffaut are $3.99 each, but it is hard to find them, so follow my directions below if interested. SRP is $19.99 to $29.99 according to DVDPriceSearch. If you just search BN.com normally, they come up at $19.98, but here's how you find them for $3.99 (sorry, I can't seem to get a direct link without having BN.com keeping my user ID in the URL... don't want the link to think it is me when you click it):

1) Go to www.bn.com
2) Click the Sale Annex Tab in the top navigation sections
3) Scroll down to the DVD section, and click the "more deals on DVD" text link
4) On the page that comes up, look at the righthand "More Great Deals" section and click the "More Bargain DVDs" link
5) This brings up 2 pages of DVD selections that include the 3 titles above on sale at $3.99, with an incorrect SRP of $7.98.

There is also another Francois Truffaut DVD "TWO ENGLISH GIRLS" which is in the sale selections for $7.98, that is not part of the Antoine Doinel series, if you are interested.

I have actually never heard of any of these movies but they seem to have really good reviews, so I am getting them as blind buys. UPS 3-Day Select Shipping is FREE is you get your order over $25. Also, be sure to apply coupon THANKU6 for $5 off if your order is over $50 (coupon expires this Sunday 11/28). Even better, it also seems like the coupon is misapplying itself twice so you get $10 off (YMMV). There is no indication of this when you place the order, but on my emailed order receipt, it took $5 off by discounting each of the titles slightly, then took off another $5 from the total. I already got a shipping notice so I know that the extra discount is "sticking". Here's my order summary:

People, jump on this!
CONFIDENTIALLY YOURS
BED & BOARD
Raytrade found an almost unbelievable deal!!!! These are 19.99 DVD's — go see for yourself — and not snappers because they are FOX titles.

I'm cool on BED & BOARD; but CONFIDENTIALLY YOURS! That's a Film Noir Classic in the style of Hitchcock. I bought two (one to sell).

What was extra sweet for me was this order — which happened, quite coincidentally, to include Roger Martin du Gard's magnum opusLIEUTENANT COLONEL DE MAUMORT . . . a $35.00 Knopf Hardcover for . . . (drumroll)

$3.49 ! LINK HERE.
A literary event: the long-awaited translation of one of the great masterpieces of twentieth-century fiction. Lieutenant-Colonel de Maumort is . . . the crowning achievement of a career that included the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1937.

Vive la France!

Incidentally, THANKU6 only garnered $5.00 off for me — this is obviously a selective code.

You can find it a bit easier if you use the search function and search under books.

Honey this is a no brainer. You could turn around right this minute and make $1.01 per movie by selling them back to Blockbuster for $5.00. I almost bought ten but . . . got in the way.

Thank you very much Raytrade and Miss Peach. There are 2 versions of these Truffaut DVDs, and this is the regular edition. The other version is Criterion. "400 Blows" is the first in the series. "Love On the Run", "Bed & Board" are good, but not as funny as 400 Blows. You can read more about these DVDs on Amazon.
Happy Holidays to everybody !

Well...

these have been on B&N for quite some time. They bought up a lot of Fox discs a while back and put them in the bargain section. For a while there, you could look up the bargain discs in the computer and order all kinds of stuff that you couldn't find on the shelves. I got Violent Cop and a few others.

The dollar you are making is soon lost if you purchase at BBV overinflated prices. In my opinion you'll be losing money in the long run.

Not intended as anything more than a means by which to recoup your money at the minimum.

And Blockbuster isn't where I'll be selling mine.

Did you check your order shipment email? There was no hint of the additional $5 off on top of the $5 coupon when I checked out, only on my email receipt. Look to see if it discounted each title slightly, then applied another $5 off the grand total like I showed in my original post. Wondering if I got a fluke deal or if others are getting the double discount too. You know, come to think of it, what I did was use the "pay by phone" option since that is the only way to pay with multiple gift cards on their site, so maybe the glitch only happens that way, where their system applies the discount to the cart, then thinks of the $5 as a partial payment on top of that.

Holy Shit! Raytrade, they did take an extra $5.00 off.

And you're right — nowhere was it apparent during the checkout process, but it's right there in the email. Raytrade I could kiss you!!

OMG this is precisely why I love Barnes & Noble! I feel another order coming on . . .
