What Did You End Up Buying So Far On Black Friday?!?

I did pretty good this year for not venturing out to the stores until the afternoon. I did not have the sales circulars - figured I would hit CC, Target & BB in that order. P/u a bunch of 4.99 disc @ CC. Got lucky and found the last copies of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 7 & Dawson's Creek, Season 4 @ Target. And @ BB was able to p/u Will & Grace Season 1. Not bad for an afternoon of black friday shopping.

Funny thing was, as I walked in , I passed a guy in the checkout line with a cart FULL of boxed sets. I don't mean one or two of each, I mean 10 or more of each. When I got to the electronics section, the shelves were just about empty. Anyone want to guess who cleaned them out?
I don't have a problem with buying multiples, but when you put the entire stock into your cart - I do kinda get pissed then.
Needless to say, I found a Target employee and they were able to bring out a few more.

I actually ventured out with the wife today! It was not too bad as far as huge crowds.
Gamestop:
Xbox plus starter kit plus some used component cables $50 after I traded in my PS2 and all 8 of my old cheap games. Gamestop gives $85 store credit for PS2! Solid deal considering I wanted an xbox and was not going to play any of my PS2 games again.
Target:
GBA Zelda 2 13.44
GBA Namco Museum 9.44
GBA Pirates of the Caribbean 9.44
Walmart:
Shania Twain 7.58
Mulan SE 9.58
Aladin SE 9.58
Mickey's Christmas 9.58

Went to CC at about 9:30am and every single $4.99 DVD was gone.
Went to Fry's and was able to pick up the following for $23 apiece:
Superman box set
Batman box set
Lethal Weapon box set
They were sold out of the Godfather set, however.
I also picked up the Buffalo external hd at Fry's for $60 (after rebate).

brooke - I can certainly understand that. I have no problem if you are buying that many for a use such as schools, but I find it hard to believe that any one person would have the need to purchase 20 or more copies of Dawson's Creek. I haven't looked yet, but I wonder how many of the Buffy set are now on eBay.
Edit: 216 Season 7 sets are now on eBay compared to 39 season 6 sets, and 29 season 5's. Hmmmmmmmm
Check out a seller named Permanentparker - multiple DVDs for sale - anyone wanna guess which ones? Buffy season 7 and Dawson season 4.

Well, I got 4 sets of the South Park S1/S2, Simpson S4, Family Guy S1-S2 just as possible presents, and I plan on returning the ones that aren't given away as gifts. I rarely sell anything on Ebay, and don't plan on doing it with these season sets. For me, they make good cheap gifts that offer plenty of viewing value for the recipients.

ATTENTION BEST BUY:
FORCING YOUR CUSTOMERS TO BUY CAMERAS IN ONLY THE CAMERA DEPARTMENT WITH ONLY ONE REGISTER AND 10 EMPLOYEES TRIPPING OVER A MILE LONG LINE OF PEOPLE WHILE LOOKING FOR OR RETRIEVING SAID CAMERAS WHILE THE ONE CUSTOMER AT THE ONE REGISTER WAITS FOR THE ONE EMPLOYEE AT THE ONE REGISTER TO SPOUT OFF USELESS PROTECTION PLANS IS REALLY NOT A GOOD IDEA ON BLACK FRIDAY!
I still cannot believe I waited two hours (and in that time moved only 20 feet) just to purchase a camcorder! My wife who we had previously split up when we entered the store waited for me for 20 minutes at the registers up front, letting person after person go in front of her because she didn't have the credit card, I did! I asked an employee standing around with nothing to do if I could bring in other products to the camera line. Said "sure, as long as you are buying a camera, but I don't know how the people in line behind you are going to like it!" Well, being the nice guy I am, I decided to wait a few minutes. After not moving for another 10 minutes, I witnessed others bringing into the line shopping carts of dvd players and TV's. That was it. No more Mr. Nice Guy! Luckily my wife and I both had cell phones on us, I called her and told her that I wasn't moving anywhere and had her bring back her pile for me to pay in the camera line.
So during my two hours of standing in place, my wife visited FOUR OTHER STORES IN THE AREA!!!!!! Luckily, a couple employees handed out water, otherwise my head would of dried up and I would have lost my hearing! (anyone else out there have that problem? Oh well, that's another discussion)
Moral of Story: There's got to be a better way to buy cameras on Black Friday than what I went through!
OK, now to bring the dvd discussion into this: I bought 2 Aladdins, 2 man on fires, one day after tomorrow, and five of those five for twenty five discs (duplicates for gifts). Later went to circuit City to purchase 4 other cheap dvd's. Thanks to friggin' Best Buy, I didn't have time to go over to Walmart to see what they had!
By the way, everyone who had the computer dvd writers for 40 bucks, What a great deal! Thanks! But PLEASE have standalone VCR-like dvd recorders real cheap next year!!!

Family Guy seasons 1/2 and NBA 2K5 both from Target. Got there about three hours after the sale started. There were no lines and all the deals were still there. Hooray for Target!
Walked into Nebraska Furniture Mart about an hour and half after they opened and walked right back out.

Wasn't really planning on buying anything for BF. I got all I wanted through CH and 20% DDD, which all arrived on Wednesday and Friday. On my way out of ToysRus, returning about $150 worth of LeapFrog stuff from my son's birthday party, I saw Mulan is on sale for $13.99. That's the price point that I can't resist for this OK-but-not-great movie.

After Thanksgiving dinner, my family started passing around the BF ads, generating enthusiasm for braving the crowds. I was seriously considering getting into the Walmart lines for the $3.88 DVDs and the Pac-Man/Ms. Pac-Man double pack for $20, but then decided I valued sleeping in more. I saw in the ads that my favorite deals were the 2-day deals, so I slept late and didn't hit Best Buy until 2pm.
At Best Buy I hit up the 5 for $25 DVD deal:
Blade Runner
Spies Like Us
Vegas Vacation
Joe vs. the Volcano (picked up for my Mom)
You Got Mail (picked up for a friend)
I also purchased two 50-packs of Fuji CD-Rs. When they rang up for $15.99, I pointed out that the ad stated all Fuji media was supposed to be 50% off. The clerk looked at the add and said "Looks good to me" and forced a price reduction for these down to $7.99. Then the register spit out two rebate forms for $4 on each of the packs. Now I was really confused, so I studied the ad back in my car and saw that the 50% off deal was an incorporation of the rebate money (small print at bottom of page). So with rebates & clerk reduction got the CD-R packs for 80% off!!!
I headed over to CompUSA and searched for the USB Bluetooth devices they had advertised for $19. They were clean out of these, so I just picked up the 100-pack of blank TDK DVD+R for $40.
Then on to Circuit City to look for the 100-pack for blank Phillip CD-Rs for $20 with $20 rebate. They were clean out of those, so I browsed the $4.99 DVD bin there and got:
Bowling for Columbine
Swing Shift
At that point I had it and joined my family for a Friday-night get together. But the shopping fun was still not over, my friend got off work late Friday night and asked me to go shopping with her at Modesto Wal-Mart. So in the AM hours of Saturday morning, I was surprised to find the $3.88 price still active on some DVDs, I got:
Say Anything $3.88
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me $3.88
Total Recall $5.50
After I got home I discovered I bought Say Anything 11 months ago ~ first time I had double purchased a title ~ oh well, it will be a nice $3.88 gift for someone
Saturday we went to visit my sister in San Jose, and on the way back to Modesto my brother stopped at Fry's Electronics in Fremont. There I got my stack of 100 HP CD-R's for $20. They also had a deal where if you got 4 MGM titles off a sale list they would ring up for just $20, so I chose:
The Great Escape
Mulholland Falls
Back to School
Casino Royale
also got the Alpha Video version of The Golem for $4.99
All in all quite a weekend for building up the DVD collection for cheap!

Today I went to Macy's and they had the $10 early bird special so I got a $39.50 dress shirt that was 65% off and had an early birdd 20% off on top of that for a total of 72% off (no 65% off and 20% off does not equal 85% off ). It rang up as $10.90 and then I used the $10 coupon and it came out to $0.90. I had one other coupon and I went to another register and bought the same shirt in a bigger size for my dad.
I had to leave cuz my dad had to go to work so I didn't have time to buy anything else. He was happy that I bought him the shirt though.
I went to Best Buy to pick up the free Holiday CD for Reward Zone members and I used my 12 remaining Best Buy bucks on Half-Life Platinum and Sims Deluxe that I had purchased yesterday (good thing too cuz they were all out today). What they did was ring it up as an exchange.
In the afternoon, I went to FYE to buy they media rank for $14.99 + Tax - $10 MIR. They also gave me the free Seinfeldisms poster (I showed them the receipt for my dot com order hoping to get them to give me the UPC Price Stickers but they said that they couldn't do it but when I asked about the poster they gave me one).
Went to Target to get some box sets but they were all out of Buffy Seven, Simpsons 4, and Family Guy Volume 1. I got rainchecks on all of them (as confirmed by others, they no longer have the substitution policy on them). I also went to get 2 of the toasters for $9 (gave one to my parents cuz their toaster just broke). They rang up as $9.99 each and the mgr had to override it for me.
Then I went to Sears to return my copy of Aladdin that I bought there last month since I got it for $9.99 at Best Buy yesterday. While there, some dress shirts were clearanced for $14.99 with 30% off. I got one for my dad and one for myself. I grabbed another pack of socks and was gonna use the $10 off $25 clothing coupon. The customer in front of me tried using the $10 off $20 coupon that got mailed to him but it didn't work cuz he had something on the excluded list so he just gave me the coupon. I thanked him, put back the socks that I didn't really need, and got both shirts for $11.
We then went to Walmart and I picked up from the $3.88 bin: Pumping Iron, The Real Cancun, Critters, and Blade Runner.
We then went to Blockbuster video for the 3 for $25 sale. My father had been bugging me to get Fahrenheith 9/11 so I got 2 copies of that and I found a copy of Star Wars Episode I with some light scratches that I'm just gonna sell on half.com.
All in all, a pretty good but tiring black Friday.

Only one thing:
Bought a small dvd player home theatre system for $54.99 at CVS Pharmacy. Really cheap, but hey: it plays fine!
Going to the mall tomorrow after I help my sister move the rest of her stuff to her new house to get some clothes (as I buy about 90% of my clothes at JC Penney).

What I ended up buying on Black Friday:
Absolutely nothing.
I slept in all day. I ate leftover food from Thanksgiving, watched football, slept some more, read the forums and other stuff on-line, rejected offers to do things with friends, and did a lot more sleeping.
Sleeping is good. (Although, I've seemingly pushed it off for quite a while, seeing that it's a little past 4 in the morning and I'm wrapping up my final viewing -- disc 6 -- of Freaks & Geeks. Awesome show.)

I didn't get any of the Friday deals (was in Disney World, got some good deals on Lego sets at the Lego store though) but I did get Buffy Season 7 yesterday. Went to Target, but they were out, so I PM at Wal-Mart. It took 2 assistant managers and a store manager to realize I wasn't lying about the deal. I guess they can't read or something. But I finally got it.
