I'm sure the dvd's will be a mess, and with Walmart, you usually get a LOT more crazy people who pick fights and so on, But with Wal-mart, mine in Turnersville, NJ, usually has truck loads OUTSIDE of the really good sale items. SO, if you just want the things that are really on sale, chances are you can get in line at around 5:15 (if opens at 6) am, most likely, employees will come up to you while you are in line and give you sheets of paper with bar codes for the sale items. Let all the idiots who actually want to shop for more than the sale items go inside the store. You walk RIGHT UP to the register and they scan your pieces of paper. You pay, and then you go outside to the trucks in the parking lot where you show them your receipt and pick up your item.

The first year they had the 27-inch TV and the dvd players cheap, seriously, within 5-10 minutes of walking into the store, we were out. and 15 minutes after that, we got what we came for.

And that's the key to Black Friday. ONLY buy what's on sale, and go with two peope: one to pick the stuff up and the other to go right to the register to stand in line as soon as you both walk in!

I was thinking about buying the 20" flatscreen tv with dvd since the 10"? tv with dvd I got last year at Sam's Club (not a sale) for pretty much the same price didn't come with a caption decoder (*insert many curse words here*).

I suspect that they got around the requirement that all tvs have a decoder because of the size. But this one should have it... but I haven't been paying attention... is ~$130 a good price for a *flatscreen* 20" TV w/dvd? or is there something crappy about this particular unit? It seems good to me and I was going to be going early to Joann's anyways which is in the same center as my Walmart. Wouldn't be a problem to go fight the throng at Walmart first thing.

Sounds like a good price to me. A typical good price for a 20 inch flat screen is 99.99. So one with a dvd player for 30 more sounds good. Don't know what the brand is, so I don't know about that.

Expect the Warner $3.88 titles to be from the following list.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...206277-3688006

A couple titles that most will pass on but I'd recommend are..

Joe Versus the Volcano (only for those that will go along with a whimsical, offbeat and not entirely succesful fantasy)
The Pledge

I popped over to check out the 3.88 DVD bin while picking up some other cheap junk and it was a mob. I'm sorry I can't confirm any titles available but I didn't get within 10 feet of the bin. There was a crowd at least 3 people deep all the way around it.

My first black friday shopping experience, it was awesome.

Just came back from Wal-Mart and they had no $3.88 bin, instead they had several shopping carts full of the $3.88 titles near the Electronics/ Food Department.

Very bad way of offering these.

Anways I saw what others have seen, I also saw Rio Bravo, Murder at 1600.

I picked up the following.

American Outlaws, Space Cowboys and Kung Pow! Enter the Fist.

The $5.50 bin was nearly half full, which ity normally is full all of the time.

The mob around the $3.88 shopping cart DVD "bin" was crazy, I saw one lady and she had about 20 titles in her hands.

This was also my first Black Friday experience in years, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would have been.

Was it the director's cut? (just hoping)

*Saw it for myself today - just the original theatrical cut.*

Are the $3.88 prices still in effect at Wal-Mart or was it a 6-hour/1 day thing?

All the DVD's I got have a promo sticker on them says "Walmart PR WHV" . They might get chucked into the $5.88 (or whatever price) bin or they might sell them at $3.88 till gone . Ive been in the local Walmart the day after BF last year and they still had the left-over BF items at the BF price .

I didn't brave the crowds till the evening and my local WM had a handful of the 3.88 titles sitting in their shipment boxes with very few people caring about them one way or another. A few dozen copies of Blade Runner, Dave, Rio Bravo, Hallow Man, Murder At 1600 and Ali......there was no way of knowing that any DVDs other than those were going for that price.

Picked up a few 3.88 titles today, so I know they're still out there

Pale Rider to replace a really old P&S laserdisc
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me again, replaced an ancient laserdisc
Fear Dot Com It's awful, yadda, yadda. It was cheap

and two giftsets I wasn't aware Walmart was blowing out at what seemed like decent prices.........

Barbershop/Barbershop 2 Gift set - 9.87
Legally Blonde/Legally Blonde 2 Gift set - 9.87

They still had a ton of the other titles mentioned previously......

At my Wal-Mart, they were wiped out within 1-1/2 hours of opening and they took away the bin.

I went to Walmart on Friday around 7AM and it was not as crazy as last year. The 3.88s were in a bin next to the 5.50s and it was only a matter of time before this would cause problems at the register as I bet many shoppers were expecting to get some 5.50 DVDs for 3.88. I ended up picking up Fear Dot Com, Say Anything, Thin Red Line, Blade Runner, Dont Say a Word, Murder at 1600, 2 copies of Pale Rider, Rio Bravo,& Magnum Force, Went back on Saturday evening and picked up Space Cowboys for 3.66, so it seems that the ones that fell into the 5.50 bin are still ringing up at the earlybird price.

I went at like 10 PM on Saturday night and they still had some stuff. I picked up Pumping Iron, Real Cancun (I'm sure that I'll get rid of this pretty quickly but I've always wanted to see it), Critters and Blade Runner.

I got at Wal-Mart around 6:15-6:20 AM and it was not that crazy. I went in and proceeded to gather up all the merchandise I wanted from Wal-Mart, EBGames, Target, BestBuy and CompUSA's ads and took them to the electronics counter and then price matched each and every item I purchased. Only really needed to go to one store that day.

I did go to some stores afterward with the other person I was shopping with to get some items that were store specific, but all of my major shopping was done at Wal-Mart that day. I was out by 7:00 AM. Took about 10 minutes to ring up my whole transaction, but it was better than having to wait outside of my local BestBuy where I was told by an employee that I'm friendly with there that they had 2,000 people in line at 5:15 AM.

Best Buy ain't no friggin' joke on BF. I went last year and I have vowed to never go back their again (as price matching at Wal-Mart is the option).
