Yeah, great deals from DVD Empire on these Criterions. I remember they had a similar sale last year.

Thanks for the head's up. Picked up M. Hulot and Videodrome.

Price Match

Since I had already ordered three of these titles from DDD on Saturday, I submitted a price match request with them (DDD). I'll post when I get a response.

Is Slacker a good blind buy? I'm trying to only purchase the criterions that have a ton of bonus features and that fits the bill, keep in mind, I absolutely despised Waking Life.

If you despised Waking Life, then Slacker is a very bad blind buy.

I agree. Slacker is pretty much a live-action version of Waking Life. I liked Slacker better though.

I bought it blind and enjoyed it quite a bit. If you like seeing gory make-up effects its a must. The movie itself is very similiar to Cronenberg's other film Naked Lunch.

need 1 more for my 10 off 100, and the only one i really wanted, the seventh seal is not in stock, grrrrr

The other ones (videodrone, mona lisa, 8.5 and the vanishing) are only marginal buys for me, so unless seventh seal comes back in stock before these others drop out, ill probably pass. They are all blind buys, but at least sound interesting, or were something ive been wanting to see.

Went with Mr Hulot's Holiday, Walkabout and Naked Lunch for a total of $47.91 after using the $5 off coupon. Nice!

Indeed. Ridiculous to list it as a come-on if you're not intending to honor the price tsk.

The only other one I'd want isn't 50% off and I can wait:

If you used a 20% off coupon at DDD on Saturday, they won't honor a pricematch. I was planning on doing something similar, then noticed the fine print of the pricematch policy.

Glad to see people enjoying this sale.

I myself picked up Videodrome & Slacker.

I own all the others so that's all I could buy

I agree that per the wording of their price match policy that they won't honor the request, but I believe the intent is that they won't price match THEN take an additional 20% off. With the prices of the three I ordered lower than even the coupon applied price, I figured it was worth a shot. We're only talking five bucks here, and if they don't price match, I won't be too disappointed.

Both my orders shipped today. Fast service as usual from DVDEmpire. Maybe they could try a Kino sale in the future?

I ordered:

Charade $21.97

The Devil & Daniel Webster $21.97

Richard III $21.97

The Tin Drum $21.97

Insomnia $21.14

Total: $109.02 minus $10 coupon = $99.02 (+ free shipping)

Needless to say, $19.80 per dvd is a great deal !

Thanks DVD Empire !

Snagged the Bergman box, Charade, The Tin Drum, and Le Corbeau for $94 shipped. I think unfortunately if they restock Seventh Seal I'll be ordering that, Picnic at Hanging Rock, and something else. Sigh. At least I still haven't spent a dime at DDD [yet].

Bumping thread for those who may have missed it. Most of the titles appear to still be in stock.
