alternatives to blockbuster trade-in deal(???)

This whole blockbuster trade-in deal got me to look into my collection to weed out some of the clunkers(of which i have my fair share). So of course, my local blockbuster isn't participating in this promotion. The point of this thread is to discuss alternatives for us unfortunate ones.

I've recently been looking at www.digitaleyes.com and www.useddvdempire.com and their trade-in programs but wasn't sure how reliable they are. What experiences have you had with such websites and are there anymore reputable ones out there that give a fair amount for dvds(and maybe even videogames)? Any other b&m stores give fair amounts for trade-in?

Secondspin.com is another site, although I've only traded in DVDs at one of their B&Ms.

I've used half and secondspin.com and had good results. The only thing about secondspin is that everything pretty much has to be mint condition.

I've used secondspin for alot of cds and some dvds. They are great, and i usually get the check/credit from them pretty quickly.

Otherwise, dvds123.com pays reasonable money for dvds, i havent tried them out yet.

Another alternative is trying your local Coconut's (if you have one nearby), or EBgames.

The Wherehouse is a retailer you may want to look into. Not sure if they have any near you, but the one that used to be 5 min. away from me (before they closed down) took in used dvds for a good amount.

Interesting. I just noticed that Secondspin.com and Wherehouse.com have the same ship-to address in Carson, CA.

If you go to the 'Buy From Us' page at Secondspin, there is a link to FYE in case you want to buy something new. I believe FYE and Wherehouse have the same corporate parent, so I guess all 3 do now. OK, I just found it in an SEC filing that TransWorld acquired majority interest in Secondspin in 2000 for $5 million. So all 3 are TransWorld properties.

has anyone actually send your dvds out to online trade-in places? How long does it take them to review your dvds that you sent in?
