Save $3 on Netflix for Current Subscribers

This may be old news, but a friend of mine just cancelled his Netflix subscription and he told me that when he tried to cancel, a screen popped up prior to the final cancellation that offered him a savings of $3 a month if he would agree to continue his subscription for another 6 months. If you do cancel during the next 6 months, you get charged back the $3 you saved.

Although I'm quite happy with the service and had no intention of quiting, I clicked on the cancellation button on the website and sure enough, I was offered a savings of $3 a month to stay with Netflix. $18 isn't huge savings, but works out to almost a free month after 6 months of service.

Is it clicking the Cancelation Confirmation button or just click cancel? I tried clicking cancel, and got nothing.

Ugh...well, now i've canceled my account. I didn't get this offer.

I wanted to give the new BlockBuster system a try, so now I have a reason to try it.

not everyone will get the savings..there was a post about this I read (someplace, not sure if it was here or not) how only certain members (depending on when you signed up/how long you are signed up) will get it ..alot of people were pissed they were cancelling their accounts and not getting discount, so it's not for everyone..

Just for the record, I did the cancellation trick and signed on for the 6 months lower price. I had some issues with Netflix and cancelled about 2 months later and they did not try to charge me for the full amount.

Any deals for returning customers? Tried Blockbuster and they are bad. Wal-Mart does not rent Un-Rated materials. Should have stuck with Netflix.
