Anyone doing STL on this? I was hoping to get in before they change the price.

It is amazon, they will change the price and cancel your order.
I went through target.com because the price is cheaper than STL and, despite being amazon run, I'm hoping the target guys might, just possibly, not cancel the mispriced orders. I used a brand new, non-amazon account too.

Abbadon74 11-02-04 11:16 PM

Great idea. I'll try to cancel my order and go your route. Great suggestion, man!

I preordered the Champloo box set in hopes that Amazon won't cancel/change the price on my order. Of course if they do, I'm sure DDD will have a similar price to ~$25.

His and Her Circumstances

His and Her Circumstances box set is $39.99 in Right Stuf's new weekly deals. It's a good series and the price is fantastic (MSRP is $129.98).

Updated with all new Right Stuf specials!

Thanks for the updates, justbarelymovin.

This may be a YMMV deal but I figured it's still worth a heads up. I went to my local MediaPlay today (Amherst,NY) and they had the Armitage III Dual Matrix Limited Lunchbox Edition for $17.99 (as a regular price not sale).

Included in the package:
Limited Edition Dual Matrix Lunchbox
Armitage III Dual Matrix SE DVD
Limited Edition Armitage III Figure (McFarlane repaint)

The best price I've found this for on the internet was $50

Hey gang. I missed the Boogiepop Phantom Ultra set the last time Right Stuf ran a deal on it. Anyone with some thoughts on where I could get a decent deal on it (online or B&M)? Also, do you guys recommend it? I would like to hear what you guys think.

Thanks,

-B

BestBuy (B&M) may still have some left.

Boogiepop Phantom: Keep in mind I've only watched the horribly edited, dubbed version on TechTV. Still, it seemed like a decent show, kinda X-files-ey, lots atmosphere and a cohesive intertwining plot. Not a whole lot of action, though, if that's your thing. It's a show I'd watch twice, just to pick up things I missed the first time through, but not something I'd watch over and over...

Like Fuji had mentioned, whether you'll like Boogiepop largely depends on what type of anime you enjoy watching. This series is definitely on the darker side with a lot of effort and emphasis placed on mood and atmosphere. A lot of scenes in fact have little to no dialogue, and when there is dialogue, it feels very much like you're only catching certain parts of a larger conversation, and the show assumes that you can figure out the rest.

If you've seen Serial Experiments Lain, then you'll have a pretty good idea what kind of anime Boogiepop is, though the storielines are completely different. Texhnolyzed is similar in feel as well. Just don't go in there expecting a Ranma 1/2 or Sailor Moon. ;)

I like anything Satoshi Kon does. Basically, I appreciate anything that's well done. I'm an artist, so I enjoy artistic accomplishment in writing AND art (Cowboy Bebop, for instance), so my tastes are genuinely ecclectic. I know this is a deal forum, but if you guys have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. And I'll keep an eye out for the Boogiepop Phantom Ultra set.

Thanks,

-B

I really like Texholyze and Lain, and in that vein I really recommend the new series Paranoia Agent. Another strange, intriuging series that really makes you think. The first DVD of 4 episodes that comes with the series box is out now.

Abbadon74 11-11-04 01:11 AM

I just picked up Paranoia Agent. I've decided anything Satoshi Kon does, I'll be there. I'll look in to your other suggestions.

Thanks,

-B

Just got an email from Amazon. They're not going to honor the Samurai Champloo - Volume 1 + Series Box price.

Yep, I got the same e-mail. Ah well, I wasn't expecting this deal to pull through. Hopefully DDD will have it for cheap.
