Blockbuster Online Rentals--Cooper Code still works!

Mods feel free to lock this later on.
Just wanted to start a new thread to
alert people to the fact that the
COOPER code still works in case some have failed on their first attempt.

The Secret:

(found it online)

Blockbuster uses cookies:

1. Disable all COOKIES
2. go to blockbuster.com

3. You should be able to see the promomotional code box
between "Re-type Password" and
"Security Question" on Page 1

4. Enter code, fill in other info, and
REACTIVATE COOKIES.

Please post in the old thread if this
manages to prove useful.

Thanks. It was useful. I tried deleting any cookies with "blockbuster" in them but that didn't work. No promo code box appeared for me.

Per your instructions, in Mozilla Firefox I unchecked the "Enable Cookies" box in options and then the promo field appeared when I went to the site again.

So now I'll check out this service for the 4-week trial period.

Briefly: The default offer is a two-week free trial and then $19.99 per month after that if you decide to stay. With the coupon code COOPER you get a 4-week trial and then $17.99 per month if you stay.

You also get 2 coupons for in-store free rentals (per month).

That's correct. From the terms and conditions:
While you are a subscriber, you will receive two free rental coupons each month delivered to your email address. Each coupon is good for a free movie rental at any participating BLOCKBUSTER® store location in the U.S. These coupons are only valid in-store and are not redeemable online. Separate in-store membership required. In-store membership rules apply to in-store rentals.

Okay, I signed up after blocking cookies and it worked for me. However, it wouldn't accept my shipping address and kept telling me I needed to enter an apartment number (which I did but still wouldn't accept it).

So I called customer service and had them sign me up. I told them I had a code and she told me that the "COOPER" code is an employee code and they aren't offering it. Guess I'm outta luck for this one.

He means you can cancel anytime after signing up, even immediately, but they will still not actually cancel it until the 4 week trial period is done.

I did the 4-week trial and cancelled at the end. Here's my experience:

Without really going crazy trying to maximize it, I managed to get 11 online rentals plus the 2 in-store ones. Until the last 3, all rentals took 2 days to get to me and be returned. For some reason the last two took 3 days, 5 days and 8 days (!) to arrive. Don't know what happened there.

On one title (Matchstick Men) they sent me the CD soundtrack instead of the DVD. I didn't even notice until I tried to play it and there was no picture but music started playing. This CD obviously came from the DVD/CD two-disc package and somebody at BlockBuster didn't realize it and put in into the DVD rental stream.

Overall, it wasn't a bad deal. I could see myself subscribing to this or Netflix someday, but for now I decided not to because I wouldn't be able to keep getting my money's worth in the coming months. Plus I have a backlog of purchased DVDs still to watch and having a steady stream of rentals coming would make it even less likely that I watch the ones I've bought.

well i got the first two dvd's 3 days after the sign up.

6 days later i'm still waiting for the third one.

if this is how it goes i'll just use the free month and stick with netflix.
it has been 3 days since i sent back 1 dvd and they still havent gotten it yet.

Please give more details how you received the offer. Did they call or send an e-mail? I might go beyond a 4 week trial for $15.99 month.

LASERMOVIES,

It's easy. Just go through the normal cancelation process at the site, and the option to downgrade to 3dvds $15.99 for 6 months will appear.

Here's how to do it:

1. Log-in to the site
2. Select "My Account"
3. Select "Cancel My Membership"
