Scorsese Collection

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3056622

Walmart.com just marked this down to CLEARANCE price of $38.83 from $50.93. Seems hot to me. Didn't see it posted before. My first post. Assemble the firing squad.

shawagg 08-11-04 04:05 PM

It's 43 at DDD. When you add shipping to walmart it 42.

Not much of a deal if you ask me, but good effort :)

imp66 08-11-04 04:07 PM

Thanks for the effort, regardless.

milkdog 08-11-04 04:11 PM

Welcome and thanks, BernardPFife. It's $41.94 with free shipping at Amazon, but Walmart's is still the cheapest pre-shipping price I've seen. If that's what it is in the B&M, people might want to pick it up there. I'm still hoping Best Buy comes in around $35.

It looks like Best Buy is selling the collection for just $49.99, although Goodfellas alone is going for $15.99 which is cheaper than CC or Target.

drjay 08-12-04 08:27 AM

STL at Amazon is the best deal I'd say. Walmart kills deals with their shipping. $37.75 w/ STL. Not too shabby.

jmstone18 08-12-04 12:35 PM

I ordered mine for $34.53 including tax and shipping, but I got in on the DDD deal when it was posted early and was accepting on pre-orders. Woo hoo.

same here. Glad I got in on this one.

tonyj 08-12-04 03:00 PM

Does anyone know if mean streets was upgraded or is it the same one that's been out forever?

too much 08-12-04 03:31 PM

I think Mean Streets is upgraded. The new one has commentary and a feature ("Back on the Block").

41.04 for me. Stupid sales tax!

Willy 08-13-04 10:44 AM

Anyone know sam's prices? They usually have very good deals on box sets I got alias for 40ish

Thanks. Do you know if the picture quality or sound was upgraded?

Jah-Wren Ryel 08-14-04 12:39 AM

I used a free gift certificate plus STL to get it for a really good price at Amazon. But since it really pisses me off when people post about using some GC they got from somewhere that nobody else can use I am not point to post what I paid. Instead I will use this post to bitch about those kind of people.

RonBoster 08-14-04 12:32 PM

Jah-Wren:

LOL.... Thanks for the laugh!

Ron

What about Goodfellas?

Is it the SE or the original one?

/d

drjay 08-14-04 04:32 PM

SE

Kube 08-14-04 05:48 PM

Seems like it's the same price to buy this particular collection as it is to wait for the disks to be available to buy at columbia house?

Right?

Less then $2 at CH come November 17th :)

Close enough. Even with me paying tax, it's only $8.21 each. Less than that for most. CH would've been, with typical offer, about 7.16 each.

Only if you totally ignore your fulfillments, which you can't do and be accurate about your cost. Average will be over $7 each, so pretty close to just buying now.

Sorry for the CH detour, but he did ask.

I don't take into account the fufillments since they're completely different movies. I usually pick up movies for enrollment that I probably would never buy individually, but getting 6 DVDs for $17.40 is too cheap to pass up.

My fufillments are all movies I really like, most of the time I'd end up spending the same amount on them as I would if I were to goto Best Buy or Circuit City on the day of release.

I know it's sort of a wierd but that's how I think.

Jah-Wren Ryel 08-15-04 11:23 AM

Considering that this is the bargains forum and not the "pay a high price on some and exaggerate the savings on others" forum, the way you think isn't really inline with what most people here are trying to accomplish.

Kube 08-15-04 06:25 PM

What do you mean by 2 dollars starting Nov 17th.

Not trying to turn this into a CH thread. Just trying to figure out the cheapest way to buy the collection.

Dude???!
It just a bunch of BS from somebody with poor math skills. Didn't you read the four messages between your two posts?

DarthMarino 08-15-04 07:20 PM

Does anyone know what the in-store price will be at Walmart on Tuesday (assuming they even have it in stock)? Is it the same as the price on the website?

too much 08-15-04 08:46 PM

Walmart has different pricing at each location. At the locations near me, they tend to be about $.11 cheaper than other stores.

I don't have poor math skills, I just look at the enrollment and committments differently then most people.

unfortunately, 99+% of the ppl on this board look at it as an average. So $7-$8 is a more reasonable price to expect.

Jamie Cole 08-16-04 02:24 PM

Will Wal-Mart price-match their web site? How 'bout other B&Ms like Best Buy? Will they price-match it?

I've had good experiences with Circuit City pricematching Walmart.com's web site but YMMV. I've had less success with Best Buy.

Kube 08-16-04 03:13 PM

Jah - i did read the posts but I don't understand the significance of the Nov 17th date. Is that how long is takes for the films to be available at CH?

I'm pretty sure that's what he meant.

jough 08-17-04 04:10 PM

There's no exact date when these will be available. They will be in CH anywhere from 3-5 months.

I'll have watched these each at least twice by then. So I win. ;)

Kube 08-17-04 04:36 PM

Anyone been to best buy today?

(I'm just not sure how many times i'm gonna watch Alice)

Dabaomb 08-17-04 05:37 PM

I got my Scorsese set from DDD.com today. $34.53 shipped as a result of the DDD.com unofficial 20% off sale
