BBY will authorize a charge on pre-orders and unlike most merchants, they will continuely reauthorize that charge each time it expires (7-10 business days). This rather unique practice makes preordering from BBY unsuitable for people who use single-use credit card numbers because pre-authorizations never return their value to available credit with those numbers so BBY will quickly exceed the specified credit limit. Otherwise it is generally ok to pre-order from them.

I snagged the Eva Platinum box for the aforementioned $20.79. They also had Last Exile 5-Grand Stream out early for $17.59 after savings. Of course the cashier tried to get me to buy a Reward Zone card, a Sports illustrated subscription, a Netflix membership, blah. blah, blah. I feel sorry for the cashiers that have to give this pitch to every customer or risk getting fired.

Honestly--Those prices are far from great, not that a Miyazaki film isn't worth it, BUT...

For instance, DeepDiscountDVD offers Princess Mononoke for just $16.74, although the other titles are priced a little higher, so it's really up to you. If you haven't already picked up the aforementioned titles, they'll all worth it in my opinion. I've never been let down by a Miyazaki film.

I was ordering Royal Space Wings Wings of Honneamise
which was regular priced at $24.99 on BestBuy.com
but didn't get the 20% discount. I know this is the regular
price because this one and Castle of Cagliostro were priced
at 24.99 but Castle of Cagliostro is discounted but not Royal Space.

BestBuy.com says the 20% discount only applies to SELECT anime
even though BestBuy the store has it for ALL anime.
I said the BestBuy.com details page says the 20% discount
applies for ALL anime online so it was confusing to me.
They said they will investigate it and get back to me in about 2-3 business days.

That's incredibly lame. I noticed that some anime didn't show up as discounted online (the discount shows up immediately without even having to add items to your cart), and I didn't really understand why. Sometimes their online and in-store prices vary, but I've been trying my luck B&M. I like to have said items in the palm of my hand, and if something doesn't come up discounted, I can always battle them on it in person, which typically results in some sort of change.
