My membership had an expire date of 8/31, but I renewed at a store on 6/22. I called the RewardZone customer service line and they credited my account with the 25,000 points from the coupon. Yippeee!!
I got my 1st year free since BestBuy mailed me the card and I earned about $50 in rewards so far this year. I love the program and whenever someone else advertises a lower price, I bring the ad to BB so I can get the price matched and also earn the points.

So does anyone know if you can use the coupons if you receive them after your membership has expired? Because the coupons state that you need to present your reward zone card when you use them...
I really hate the backlog that the coupons are mired in. I know they were having trouble keeping up earlier, and that they need to make sure that purchases aren't returned before awarding points, but the coupons take forever to come in the mail. Also, I think it's a dangerous precedent they're setting by putting specific deals in the weekly ads just for rewardzone members.
They got a great deal when they gave this to me last year for free. Not only can they track my purchases easily, but I always think of Best Buy first when I want to buy an item at a B&M, just for this measly discount. I've also let several coupons expire accidentally, and found out that returning items with coupons used on them doesn't get you the coupon back...

I renewed my membership with the coupon 5 days ago, and just now when I checked the RZ website, my account has already been set to expire on 7/31/05. No bonus points have been posted yet probably due to the transaction being pending for another 4 weeks or so as usual. Only time will tell...

I also tried to renew using a $10 reward zone certificate. I added a $.01 item to bring the total to $10 but it did not work. Ended up paying with a gift certificate.

So there is no way to know whether this coupon will actually give us the 25,000 bonus points, is that right? There was nothing on the receipt about it, the checkout clerk didn't say anything about it, and the post above said you don't see points posted to your account for 4 weeks normally (which i did not know)?
I wonder if this will work -- perhaps the points are tied in to be given to only whoever's individual account that was sent the original email?

When I used my certificates to renew, I also bought Justice League: Starcrossed. The total came to $25, and I used two $10 certificates to pay. It seems odd that it wouldn't work for others.

I ended up using a $10 certificate to pay for my renewal plus the new Ghost in the Shell and Evangelion DVD's, and the discount was reflected on both DVD's and the RZ renewal price. Strange that it doesn't work for the price of just the RZ card.

Has anyone tried using this coupon that didn't have an expiration date of 7/31? I know Rob said he called and got credited, but he didn't actually use the coupon in store. I expire on 9/30, and don't want it to only renew me to 7/31 next year... I doubt this would happen, but you never know...

I imagine they will be sending something similar out every month as people's accounts expire. You could wait and hope some nice person scans it and puts it up here next month!

Hmm... have we confirmed any two people that have gotten this email, and compared the barcodes? That would tell us if the coupon is tied to the account. I doubt that though... more likely, they'll flag the accounts that use this coupon and check whether or not they were sent a coupon. Even this seems unlikely, though.

I got the additional 25,000 points, just made the phonecall to the Rewards phone number, it took a total of five minutes. So it was very easy. Kudos to Best Buy!!

I renewed with the coupon when it was first posted and the 25000 point credit just posted to my account, thanks OP!!!!! I saw in another thread that they are changing the rules($5 'reward' for $150 purchase, instead of $125), but hey a free membership renewal works for me. Thanks again OP....

Just thought I'd mention I used the coupon (at the beginning of this thread) to renew my membership (which expires at the end of September) and today I received my $10 gift certificate.

Did anyone see the BS that Best Buy sent out with the explanation of the increase?
They are increasing the points you need to get to 15,000 from 12,500 (something like that). It said that it was based on member feedback.
Member feedback??!!!??
Who the hell would say this??
Come on Best Buy, at least increase it without trying to blame members for the increase.

This is already discussed in another thread "Best Buy Reward Zone will change to $5 GC for every *$150* spent on Oct 3 2004": http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=383341
