Robocop Trilogy - Good Price
For those who are interested, DVDSoon has a pre-release price of $23.98 CAD which converts to $17.85 American. That includes shipping. That is the best price I found for the 3 movie set. Click Here. I have ordered a number of sets from them in past with no problems. Sometimes they can be slow but in the last 6-12 months delivery service has improved. The Alien Quad set and Babylon 5 S4 were my most recent purchases in the last few months and they came either early or on release date. The only real downside is they charge you card at time of purchase. So you don't want to order too early unless you are convinced their price can't be beat.
Anyway for what it's worth I think it's a good deal. Once I dump Robocop 3 (which is pretty bad), my Criterion version of Robocop will fit in the case just right.

Thanks. That's a great price (free shipping too). I ordered it & plan on keeping the Robocop SE & putting the old barebones MGM disc in the box set & giving it to my nephew. He likes 2 & kinda likes 3 whereas I only like the original. That'd be a great price ($17.66 is what my cc was charged) for the original Robocop SE alone (if they sold it separately).

It's not the Director's Cut so if you have the Criterion version you should keep it. Here are the details from DVDAnswer:
Title: Robocop Trilogy
Starring: Peter Weller
Released: 8th June 2004
SRP: $39.96
Further Details
MGM have announced the Robocop Trilogy for a release in June. This new feature packed set will be available to own from the 8th June this year for around $39.96. The first film will receive a newly mastered anamorphic widescreen presentation as well as a new Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. Extras will include an audio commentary with director Paul Verhoeven, producer Jon Davidson, and screenwriter Ed Neumeier, a Making of RoboCop documentary, four deleted scenes, a six minute film-to-storyboard comparison with optional commentary by Phil Tippett, two vintage featurettes, a still gallery, trailers and finally a TV spot. The other two films will receive the barebones treatment with only trailers included. Although films two and three will be available seperately, the first film will be available only as part of the trilogy set.

It most likely includeas both cuts of the film, as all of the other regions have that seemless branching option. But who knows.
I would still recommend the Criterion - the color scheme is just plain wrong on the MGM DVDs.

Numes, is there still an 8-DVD limit per order? I've found it difficult to qualify for the higher-value coupons under this limit. How did you do it?
Thanks,

Yes, there is still that stupid limit. I was a little thrown at first, but a lot of DVD's that were on my wish list were box sets, so I (barely) managed to get over the $400 CAD barrier. Two of the big ones were Six Feet Under: Season 2 and X-Files season 9. There were some other cheapies that I wanted (Wizards and Red Sonja), but I had to replace them with some other box sets.
I doubt I could make it to $400 CAD again, but I did that time

I got mine from them yesterday, I am so stoked, now I have something to watch this weekend
BTW, could they have placed the security strip in a better place? Right under the plastic on the artwork. ARGH! It started to rip using an exacto knife so I have to leave it there now.

Yep, that's where mine is.
And I do believe this is the director's cut. The back says it's an "Extended Version" and it is "Not Rated", I watched it and it's more gory than I ever recall it being.

All reviews say it's the same cut as Criterion's... it's less than a minute of extra footage, if I remember properly. Just really graphic. I have the Criterion and the scene where the goons are shooting off pieces of Murphy pre-cyborging is where a lot of the extra footage is. I look forward to the new set. I'm one of the few people who actually enjoys Robocop 2, although I hated it on initial release. I haven't found anything to like about Robocop 3, though.

Since I started this thread, I thought I mention that my copy was received today prior to release day. I think DVDSoon has gotten their act together and really doesn't deserve the DVDLater label.
Certainly they are not perfect, no e-tailer is IMO.
Todays price is 21.98 CAD which converts to $16.60 Free Ship. Even a better deal then when I bought it. Click Here

I got mine today too... I am very pleased. Thanks OP!
FWIW, I recently ordered another title from DVDsoon but was sent the wrong movie. I contacted them, faxed them an affadavit and they sent me the right one and let me keep the wrong one. All in all, I gotta give DVDsoon a big thumbs up. Hopefully, they will treat me right on the MGM titles I ordered the other day, too. But anyway, I definitely agree that the "DVDlater" label is definitely not befitting a company who seems to be getting so many people their DVDs *soon*(er than release date).

I think I'll just stick with my Criterion even if it isn't anamorphic.
