Recommend Marvel Omnibus

So I want to get into some Marvel Comics, are there Omnibus's that you can recommend? Can be Avengers, Iron Man or Spider-Man.

What kinds of comics are you interested in and which era (like 70's/80's/90's, more modern, etc)?

Unfortunately Iron Man hasn't been treated well in omnibus format (Marvel says his omnibuses really don't sell that well) so scratch him off the list. One problem I'll mention is that Marvel is terrible at keeping their omnibuses in print, even for classic and popular runs. I've actually sworn off collecting all but my favorites by Marvel in omnibus form because you now have to practically pre-order them.

I'd suggest Ultimate Spiderman omnibus vol 1...if it were in print. That is a great read and starts a completely new continuity, so you don't have to worry about decades of earlier issues. Way too expensive at the moment on the secondary market. The best Spider-Man omnibus from the original 616 universe (started by Stan Lee and Ditko in the '60s and the Spidey most are familiar with) is probably the Roger Stern omnibus, which is also out of print and commands crazy money.

For Avengers, I'd suggest Avengers by Kurt Busiek & George Pérez Omnibus Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, but Vol 1 is OOP. These are frequently recommended as an excellent modern-era starting point. Though newcomers may be intimidated by their deep appreciation for Avengers history.

Sorry didn't keep up with this thread, thank you all for the recommendations. Though I think I'd want anything in print and not terribly expensive (like $80 or less)

I think 1970s and 80s would be interesting to read.

Best option that is readily available at the moment is this omnibus of classic Spidey from the '70s. I'd suggest Claremont's X-Men vol. 2 omnibus but that is OOP and going for $200-300.

Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 5 omnibus - $44 shipped.

Yeah if you want cheap just go look at everything that seller (funaticals) has, you won't beat those prices (even if you can't get a complete run).

I just got the first two Romnibuses from Funaticals. I liked that the shipping material was shredded up old comic books.

I think it's like catalogs or something? But yeah their packing is good and they usually give some kind of tpb as a bonus. But they are super super slow.
