DC Universe Infinite 1.21.2021

Since DC Universe is now DC Universe Infinite for Comics only as of 1.21.21 I figured I'd start this here.

Since I only keep up with Superman titles, I'm not clear on what this is. I know DC is doing the Future State thing for two months - is that related? Dang, it's hard to keep up with all these changes. Life was simple back in the Silver Age.

DC's streaming service, DCU, had a section with digital comics. DCU was just shut down and most of the video content has moved to HBO Max. Now DC is starting their own digital comics-only subscription service called DC Infinite, copying Marvel.

This used to be the DC Universe service, which had a (in the beginning) curated list of comics you could read online, in addition to streaming originals like Teen Titans, Harley Quinn and Swamp Thing, and other DC properties (BTAS, etc.). Over time they vastly improved the comic catalog to the point that they had a ton of comic titles to read with something like a 12 month delay.

When HBO Max was announced, there was no need to keep the content separate, so they moved most of the video content over to Max and decided to change this service to comics only. They shortened the delay to six months. Today is the launch date for the "new" comics only app and service, which is basically the same thing just getting rid of the video sections. They also added a ton of content that wasn't on the site before, like "Black Label" books and digital firsts.

I am a little upset because I swear they said that the delay was going to shorten to three months, but it seems that's only for digital first titles. Marvel's competing service shortened to three months, and is cheaper to boot.

Any news/ideas/guesses on how DCI will affect DC titles on Comixology, especially Comixology Unlimited? I'm about full up on subscription services right now.

If The previous iteration allowed DC titles on Comixology Unlimited I wouldn't expect anything to change.

This is similar to Marvel Unlimited. They share titles with Comixology Unlimited and doesn't seem to affect either service.

Got my voucher. It's for https://shop.dccomics.com

The selection seems really thin, but the voucher is good until 2/1/22.

Sounds about right.

I never buy stuff from the shop because the stuff seems overpriced. That voucher stuff was not really an incentive for me.

I figured I could get at least an overpriced action figure or something exclusive but nope, at least not yet.

Anyone here on this or Marvel Unlimited? Was just curious what you think of both services.
