this thread may or may not get folded in with the previous one, but since the OP kicked this off with previews of coming statues, I'll just post these here for the time being

and a competing offering from Infinity Studios which, unlike the Queen studios above, will be carried in the US by Sideshow

A lot of great stuff has been released recently, or is due to come out soon. Overwhelming, actually.

a few more pieces I have my eye on that are in production now (I expect the Hawkman to show up at the Sideshow Booth at SDCC next month). Both are at 1/3 scale.

for size

and from Brazil's Iron Studios...

About how much do those Sideshow pieces cost?

Those Wonder Woman statues are startlingly realistic.

The "Wonder Woman" statue is amazing.

If you have to ask, you probably won't want to pay it... :)

Seriously though, the WW busts are like 1:1 size, I think the Infinity is like a little over $3000 and the Queen is 2900.

The comicon ones in the OP are 50 bucks a piece but of course you have to go to comicon to get them and they're limited. I think there's also an exclusive X-Force Deadpool bust (which is obviously nowhere as detailed as the WW ones above) for 150.

Sideshow premiums are 500 but are limited and once they sell out usually go for more. A lot more.

Re: The Official Statues and Bust Thread

The Dark Phoenix that stingermck has was $500 (+ shipping) for the regular edition. The regular is version is waitlisted now, the exclusive which had an additional switchout head, is sold out.

Almost no new 1/4 scales, which is the size of the Phoenix, are under $550 anymore. Prices have risen a ridiculous rate over the last four or five years.

The Wonder Woman busts are both made primarily of silicone and polystone, and the hair is punched in one strand at a time. The Queen is going to run around $3300 shipped in the US and the Infinity will probably be about $300-$500 more.

Yeah, everything has gone up dramatically the past decade or so, I assume partly due to plastic costs and I'm sure partly due to demand. I'm more of an action figure guy myself (which I know is another thread) and I had to cut back my Hot Toys doll premium collectible figure collection because it was just so expensive and Marvel kept pumping out movies (and Iron Men) like nothing we've ever seen before.

I'd love to see more pics of how collections are setup in people's homes. That was the other problem I had, running out of room, and my detolfs being taken over by my kids. Like Stingermck's corner looks cool.

Re: The Official Statues and Bust Thread

While new product is a lot more expensive, the glut of new companies producing things- at a quality level far beyond what was common a decade ago- has resulted in the aftermarket taking a huge hit.

This stuff used to get pricey after it was sold out, but you can usually find a good deal now for something you want, if you're patient.

The owner of one of the companies has been pretty transparent about the costs of production and one of the reasons is the labor employed on these are skilled, and they are treated well.

I'm definitely running out of room too- moreso for storage, because I only ever have a few out for display at any one time. I was hoping to sell some older stuff, but the market is so lousy now- and probably only going to get worse- that I don't know if it's worth it.

I ended up throwing all my reward points towards this recently

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...303df88e2a.jpg

I probably should have waited till the actual production samples showed up first though.

It's so easy to go crazy on Hot Toys too. I was getting every Batman and Spider-Man, but I recently got rid of some, to slide some cash to statues.

Here are shelves I have for Hot Toys, and 12 inch statues (simple shelves and brackets from Home Depot) :

Re: The Official Statues and Bust Thread

Like Paul said, labor is a huge cost but so is licensing. Marvel and DC have upped their licensing fees for everything since their product is on high demand right now.

That’s a lot of cash, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for a work of art.

Well, it's not only $3000, you also have to explain to your significant other/spouse why you have a 1:1 representation of Gal Gadot from the waist up, with rooted hair (first question: what did you do with the bottom half, perv? Second question: how often do you lovingly brush her hair?)

That and the dust are why I don’t collect these.

This thread is making me want to buy another Premium Format figure. I love the statues, but the problem is they are so damn big its hard to find a place to put them.

Re: The Official Statues and Bust Thread

This probably should go in the movie section, but here's a Hiddleston Loki bust from the same studio as the first Wonder Woman posted above.
It's available now for pre-order $2900 (plus shipping)

Did you see the recent reveal of the Hot Toys Scarlet Spider? That Spider-man videogame license came just in time for them with the winding down of Iron Man variants. I'm super tempted, and they don't even have to make a likeness of anyone.

I'm tempted too to get the Scarlet Spider. I know it's very 90's, but I love that costume. By the way, Marvel is missing on big money by not putting out an official Scarlet Spider hoodie for sale. I spoke with Tom Lyle this weekend a Heroescon and he still doesn't understand why Marvel has never produced them or licensed to someone.

Ah you were at heroes also Hood? I love taking to Lyle. He has great stories about the business.
