What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
What is the longest comic book series run you have read without missing any issues in between? Since many series renumbered but often go back to the original numbering, those issues would count too.
For me it would be The Walking Dead. I've so far read from #1-180 without missing any. I don't think I've com close to that with any other series even when I was avidly collecting in the 1980's and 1990's. I think my other longest run would have been The Amazing Spider-Man from #242 up until some point during the Clone Saga. Some other Marvels I've read long runs but missed reading an issue or two here or there. |

Savage Dragon, I've read it monthly since the first issue. It's up to issue 242 now.

Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
Does manga count? Because I've read all 935 weekly chapters of One Piece (it's 92 collected volumes so far but the weekly stuff goes beyond that... and I just realized the last physical volume I bought was 76 to that's 16 physical volumes I'm behind). I basically read it every week.
I think Oda is maybe 2/3 done. |
Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
Good topic. While I probably own several 200+ issue runs, I’m not sure if I’ve actually read, consecutively, anything close to that.
The only 100+ issue run I’m sure of is the first 120 or so of the second Swamp Thing series. Still need to read the last 40 or so issues there, but I’m re-reading from the beginning. |

Spawn is also still going written by McFarlane but he hasn't pencilled regularly in a long long time. Liefeld reboots Youngblood every once in a while but I don't think it usually goes past a few issues. Jim Lee sold his wildstorm studios to DC and his characters are currently being revamped in a DC published Wild Storm book by Warren Ellis. Silvestri still does does the occasional issue but I don't think Cyberforce has been regularly published in a while. I don't remember the last time I saw Jim Valentino draw either. Portacio's wetworks never made it past the initial mini series. He actually went into a diabetic coma and had to relearn how to use his hands to draw. Last I heard he was doing some alternate universe XMen related miniseries with Liefeld. |
Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
I think Spawn is closing in on issue 300. |

I was looking through last month's Marvel solicits and I'm pretty sure Star Wars was the highest. 60's maybe? I remember the highest number Marvel proper title was Spider-man/Deadpool of all things. I think it was like #47.
The only high number DC books are Action and Detective right? But those were obviously renumbered. And to answer the original question, I have Uncanny X-men from 138 to 360-ish. Don't think I have anything else in triple digits. |
Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
I think Archie restarted at issue 666 a few years ago. Also Bongo ended the Simpsons comic last year on issue 245. Antarctic Press's Gold Digger is up there as well, though I think it stopped here and there.

Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
I started collecting Superman with issue #202 and stopped at 678. So that's 476. But if we can include later-collected back issues, I've read 660 consecutive issues (just not in chronological order since I wasn't born for the early ones).

Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
I have read and own Hellblazer #1-300. I only started reading it during the Garth Ennis run, but went back and bought the first TPB, “Original Sins,” and Ennis’ first, “Dangerous Habits,” and all issues I didn’t own from #10 up. A couple of years ago I finally completed the run and own all of the issues. I have read Uncanny X-Men from Giant-Size and #94 up to at least #310 or so, and then sporadically up through the Onslaught thing. |

Probably The Walking Dead for me as well, 1-180. |
Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
Walking Dead for me too. I didn't do weekly though. Started with Compendium 1 & 2. Then bought digital volumes when they went on sale until I was caught up. Then I was buying digital single issues, again when they went on sale. But for awhile the single issues weren't dropping in price, so I would buy the digital volumes when they went on sale, or I had a credit/discount.
Reading Vol 31 from the library now. |
Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
Cerebus at 300 issues. I read the last half as the phone book editions. The last few were more skimmed than read just to get through them.

Through a combination of Marvel Essential editions, Omnibuses, Epic Collections, TPBs, hardcovers, single issues, and online comics I have read every issue of Thor through the Death of Thor hardcover. |
Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
I bought and read MOST Amazing Spider-Man issues from 144-175, and all of them from 176-400. I can't remember how much farther I got than that.
I had similar runs with the Fantastic Four and Incredible Hulk during the same era. |

Thor must have had a long run that should be well over 300 issues if you count the Journey into Mystery and the renumbering. I haven't look at numbers since there was so many relaunches, but I would guess that it would be in the 700's somewhere making it close to a run 600 issues featuring Thor if you count the renaming and realunched volumes that reverted to the original leagacy numbering. |

The audience dwindled by the end of Cerebus also partly because of Dave Sims outspoken views on things like feminism.

Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
It probably also didn’t help that, in its final stretch, Cerebus turned into walls of Sim rambling aimlessly about Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and his made-up religion in 8 point text. Between his “form and void” nonsense and turning the book into a soapbox to obsess over religion and literature, it was like he was trying to drive off readers. Though you have to give him credit for being decades ahead of the red pill-incel-MRA-MGTOW curve. |

Re: What is the longest uninterrupted comic book series run you have read?
Bumpity bump! I have now read a consecutive number of Action Comics totaling 853. This is from #189 (1954) to the current issue of 1036. This includes the New 52 since those were integrated in the renumbering. I think I need a nap now.
