Not just the first comic, but the first book I ever read...
And The Onion had the best take; making fun of him on the day he died, while still making it a fitting tribute; reverential, appropriate and funny...

Man, he didn't hold back.
When McFarlane and Liefeld were Marvel's money makers writing and drawing the comapny's #1 titles X-Force and Spider-man, Stan Lee had no problem telling them that their lack of collaborating with writers was the problem.

This is interesting...
I wonder if that screenplay is still around and if it's viable to produce now.

Was Stan Lee's name mentioned in tribute on any of the DC Universe tv series?

His cause of death has been revealed. No real surprise as these health issues were in the news the mast year or more. Cardiac arrest and respiratory failure

Not to take anything away from his collaborators, and the people who co-created with him, but it's still impressive how much this guy did his entire life, just within the Marvel company.
He wrote stories in the golden age, ushered in the "Marvel Age" in the 1960s, co-created all these iconic characters.
On top of all that, he created the bullpen/clubhouse vibe of Marvel Comics back in the day, the "No-Prize," "'Nuff Said." All that stuff.
I started reading Marvel comics in the late 80s, and all that stuff was still being used and gave the reading experience that little extra.
And then he went on to oversee Marvel's TV and movie properties.
And he was the figurehead of the company, this friendly character who made Marvel more personable, unlike DC Comics which, although awesome in its own right, seemed like it was ran by nameless people in business suits.

I collect and have been reading a lot of silver age collected editions lately. I can't remember the title or story, but the splash page of a long continued story had a long detailed synopsis to catch the reader up. The synopsis ended with, "There! Now you're as confused as we are! -Stan"

That video series was made in 1991, so juuuuust as Todd, Rob, etc. were jumping ship on Marvel to create Image comics. I had one of the videos with Todd and Rob (Stan said hi, then left) being joined by Jim Lee (my favorite at the time) and Whilce Portacio. But there's other videos with writers like Chris Claremont plus the Romitas, and then he crossed the DC / Marvel line to interview Bob Kane, too. I can't say these were big money makers but they were pretty innovative. Heck, even I ordered a video out of the back of a comic book and I showed it to my Boy Scout Troop on "make your own comic book" night!
Here's the video I had:

Yeah. That huckster Keya Morgan has been arrested for elderly abuse and fraud in relation to Stan Lee among other things. He is a known grifter and somehow was able to get close to Stan in the final year of his life. Fuck that guy.

Stan's daughter (JC) brought Morgan into their lives. She is known for having expensive tastes and she was hoping Morgan could help her gain control of some of Stan's assets. The tables were turned and she was shut out.

I never would have guessed that this is Stan Lee. I'm used to seeing him with a mustache and longer hair.
