3D comics
 

I was always a fan of these and wanted them to look decent but was always disappointed as they usually just came across as a blurry, uncolored mess. Big disappointment.

Granted, they only have around 10+ pages and one whole story to view as a bonus feature on this disc but the entire disc is worth the buy for the awesome shorts and trailers.

But I was truly astounded at how good these 3D comics looked. My mouth hit the floor. No exaggeration. They just jumped right out at you. Has anyone else viewed these? What were your impressions?

I would buy a disc full of 3D comics if they were redone like the ones on 3D Rarities were.

I've heard a lot of buzz about that disc. I always remember being disappointed by 3-D comics and eventually stopped buying them, even at the height of my comics collecting mania. Did Marvel and DC ever do much with them? By the 90s the only 3-D comics I ever came across were from independent publishers.

There was a Batman 3D book, but I think the large majority were from independent companies like Blackthorne.

I'm telling you, the comic samples on the disc will blow your mind. If they had ever looked that good, I would have bought a ton of them.

I seriously would love a disc of just them but I know that will never happen.

I wasn't aware of this disc but after reading the reviews, I think I need to check this out. Are the 3-D comic samples from the 1950's? If so, any EC?

I have that Batman 3D book. It was first done in the 50s and then reprinted in the 60s

There was a 3D segment in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Black Dossier that DC released a while back.

Most of the modern era 3D comics were from indie publishers; it was sort of a fad in the 80s. I remember 3D issues of Miracleman and Mr. Monster, and one company, Blackthorne, put out a lot off 3D titles for properties like Transformers, GI Joe, and Star Wars. Since those were all Marvel books at the time, I wonder if the rights for regular comic books and 3D comic books were separate.

The Batman 3D in the 90's was done by John Byrne. I never read it 'cause I didn't want to tear out the glasses and I never bothered looking for another pair.

Almost forgot... in the mid-90s Valiant Comics did this thing called "Valiant Vision," which was a kind of 3D.

Valiant Vision wasn't an anaglyphic 3D process with the red/blue glasses, but instead had clear glasses and the books were perfectly readable without the glasses. How it worked was that when viewed through the glasses 'warm' colors like red, orange, and yellow would appear closer to the viewer than 'cool' colors like green, blue, and violet. This only really worked with books like Solar and Psi-Lords where the main characters were clad in red.
