Which is a complete and utter joke. I hope DC realizes why Superman isn't as popular as he once was, they've done everything they can to diminish and undermine the character since the 1980s. Congratulations, DC. You took the most popular character in the history of the medium and made him nearly irrelevant in the universe built around him.

They really need to do a mini-series or something where Superman is called off Earth for a long stretch and the Justice League falls apart without him.

The Justice League Animated Series already covered it.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

There's also the Elsewhere series called The Nail, where Superman was found by Amish instead of the Kents (a nail gave the Kents a flat tire the day they would've drove by Superman's crashed pod), and kept to himself as Amish, while the rest of the Justice League was built up and collapsed without him.

Well, I was thinking of more mainstream DC continuity but I did really like The Nail. Definitely a graphic novel worth checking out.

Yeah, if wikipedia is right he's done basically nothing in comics since 1993.

There a not-quite-as-good sequel too, which has a lot of fanservice.

Fan service as in gratuitous bikini shots, or fan service as in neat references and in-jokes type stuff?

Was browsing Comixology just now and both series are there, but I think I'll just go rummaging thru my longboxes instead.

fan service as in neat references, kinda like the first one. Basically an excuse for Davis and Farmer to draw the fringes of the DC universe, which is fine by me.

I think they reissued The Nail as a trade paperback at some point.

I don't see green. But then again, I didn't see black, blue OR white in that dress; so perhaps my color perception is a bit off.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

I mentioned earlier the Kull issue of Bizarre Adventures, and poking around I found covers of some other issues. I remember these well, but don't recall anything about the actual stories. I was also inspired to make my first Wikipedia edit in eons. I tend to avoid that because it could be a huge black hole of time.

I remember wanting them, but the price threw me off. If I only knew.....

And David, when you go back to edit it, could you add the page count please?

I did add the page count in the Collected Editions area. That's the only part I edited as the actual issues are still at my parents' house.

I'm not sure if I've read many Namor stories. Some of the old ones make it look like he was a supreme badass and there were some epic battles. Anyone recommend any specific runs?

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

Marvels #1, shows him being good and being an asshole of baddie nature.

Blew my mind as a kid. Knowing that we had a Torch in that period. That Namor was active during all that too. That he knew Cap.

Not sure what specific arc but pretty much from when it was revealed that Namor, and other notable characters, were part of an Illuminati to when he was helping out the X-Men for a while. He was pretty damn badass. So that's like what? 2009 to like 2013?

I've read his first series but never his John Byrne series. Anyone read that? How was it?

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

Most of the best Namor stories involve the Fantastic Four and his thing for Sue Storm. I wouldn't call his '90s issues particularly memorable, I remember Namorita in them more than anything.

Namor was a normal Marvel character that got retrofitted as a mutant when they became a hot property.
