^ Can't believe Wolverine and the The Punisher aren't there.

Weren't they pretty much mandatory on any kind of event, even a minor one, back then?

Funny you mention that because I thought the same thing when reading this issue last night.

The character of Solo (who I have no recollection of at all) is kind of a "Great Value" version of The Punisher...or at least that is how he comes across in several of those issues around this time.

I actually laugh to myself every time he says that. Just seems so lame. Who created him?

Funny, I was going to add Ghost Rider being mandatory at the time as well then I looked and he was front and center.

Erik Larsen. That’s why he was part of that Sinister Six storyline.

Yeah, Larsen also loves Nova. It was basically his comic to do whatever he wanted. He actually ticked Peter David off by allowing Doc Ock to manhandle the Hulk, and David had a corresponding page in Hulk where he dispatches Ock.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

Awesome article. Thanks.

I thought it was weird with Doc Ock beating Hulk around like that and then there was some lame mention of him have new "Titanium" tentacles which I guess was the excuse for it.

I can't say I will be keeping my Erik Larsen Spider-Man Omnibus. I wasn't impressed and glad I missed it the first time around. And the way he drew MJ the majority of the time was near pornographic and definitely a fanboy's fantasy. I am not a prude, but it was a little too obvious most of the time the way he drew her.

Yeah, definitely don't start reading Savage Dragon then, because that's Larsen without any kind of "PG" leash and it... goes places.

Also for the previous GL cover, it always amuses me that Arisia is like one of the original "1000 year old dragon that just happens to be in the body of an underaged girl"

I remember Savage Dragon but never read any of it. I don't mind scantily clad chicks in comics but the poses, clothing choices, etc. on the way MJ was drawn in his stuff seemed skanky and almost lurid for the character. Guess I am too used to Jazzy John Romita's version. At least you know what to expect if you are going to read a Dejah Thoris comic.

And there was a whole several issue subplot of MJ getting a part in a movie that required her to do nude scenes. I figured that was going to be a good excuse for Larsen to go nuts, but it ended up not happening, story-wise.

I just posted the GL cover because it looked cool. Never read it.

They were adamantium tentacles. I can’t remember if they ended up being taken away from him or what.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

With the BARBIE movie a world wide rage, I wonder how many people knew that DELL came out with a comic book in the 1960's.

Haha. I had "Adamantium" in my head when I typed titanium.

Guess Wolverine wouldn't last too long with a titanium skeleton.

Re: Random comic-related pic thread

Speaking of Dejah Thoris...this is pretty ballsy to wear to a comic convention and walk around:
NSFW
Spoiler:

But back to the comic pics....
I miss these old ridiculous comic book covers.
