Hate that my local shops only allow one per customer. I want all 60 darn it!

That sucks. My two shops allow four each, and even that dictates some careful resource management.

I'm going for the free mouse guard hardcover.

Last year the largest comic book store in the city allowed ONE per person (ONE comic out of the entire 60 with boxes and boxes that probably ended up unopened) while a much smaller shop said grab what you want. I know what shop I'm gong back to this year !

My local library is participating tomorrow.

I did a very bad thing. Mile High Comics has a deal where you get a free book with certain level orders, up to the whole shebang with a $500 order. Guess what I did.

:rock2: Hell yeah!

Going to the same store I went to last year with no limit. I do intended to buy something in the shop tho.

I've been on a comic book spending spree recently. Between WonderCon and a local store offering $4 for a pound of comics* plus FCBD, I'm set for a long while.

*I need to post pix of the stuff I got last weekend.

Trevor, between comixology and all the other stuff you mention, are you independently wealthy, did you win the lottery, or is your credit card crying for mercy?

Nowhere close on the first two; hopefully not the last, but this month might be dicey. I basically decided that half my tax refund could go to comics this year. It was supposed to finance my switch to all digital, but I'm weak.

I'm hitting up my local library for comics tomorrow morning.

I hope you got something good for your 500 bucks, and didn't just buy any old thing so you could get all your "free" books.

I got the type of books I've been collecting all of my life; mostly low priced 70s and 80s DC and Marvel books. Most were between 75 cents and $1.25 each, and that was before the current 50% off code word (sweetheart). Mile High has a great selection, but typically very high pricing. Luckily, I'd rather have a Fair grade book and actually read it than a thousand high grade or slabbed books, so while most of the stuff I bought was dollar or less box fodder, it was all stuff I wanted, and worth the slight premium to satisfy my FCBD OCD.

I think I did the same thing in a recent year.

I was headed that way until I got married.

So who's planning a multiple store junket tomorrow? I have creators at at least two local stores, checking some other websites tonight.

me and my brother in law have a 6 store loop we hit. most let you get 5-10 books and usually has a bunch of long boxes of random back issues that you can pick from too. im looking to complete my animal man run from the free boxes! add a bunch of sales and itll be an expensive day

I'd love to run around to comic book stores all day but I have a mountain of chores to get through and a show in the evening.

On the plus side, I won't have a bunch of random stuff cluttering up my place this year.

Cross posting from the digital thread: Happy Free Comic Book Day everyone!

No new sales at Comixology, but they are getting into the FCBD spirit with two free sections on their homepage:

an Image Free Firsts section with an easy-to-add-all 142 free number ones; nothing new, but all together for the first time iirc

22 of their Comixology Submit comics are free, including 7 that weren't part of the SSX bundle

So even if you don't have local comic book stores, or can't make the trek out today, there are over 200 free books at Comixology.com today. And at least some of the the actual FCBD books will likely be added later. And Darkhorse.com has their usual freebies and 12 new freebies as part of their May the Fourth Be With You sale.

If anyone could grab a copy of the free Mouse Guard hardcover, I'd pay postage. My shop didn't get any.

I have an extra copy of that hardcover Mouse Guard that I'd be willing to trade for the 2000 AD oversize comic. Our location did not get those. Other than that, I got my batch.

My store was insane today. It's already a small store and it was so crowded it was hard to maneuver around people. All the comics with the exceptions of the stacks of the same thing were gone in two hours also which sucked.

The shop I go to just gives you a big pile without any drama every year. You don't get to say "give me this one" but I ended up with everything I wanted except Mouse Guard in the pile of 16 they gave me. Whenever I read about other people's experiences, I am reminded that they are the best. To top it off, they also had a buy one get something of the same price or less free sale on everything in the store. They do that or half off everything every year for FCBD and several other times during the year.

My store allows 3 Free Comic Book Day selections (Picked up Rocket Raccoon, GOTG and Futures End). Also purchased Nightcrawler #1 and Justice League United #0. But the kicker was that the owner slipped a copy of the Archaia Hardcover (with Mouse Guard) into my bag. Maybe he was giving it away to frequent customers?
