If you could own any one comic book, what would you choose? (to keep, not sell)

I'm tempted to choose something personal like Will Eisner's copy of his first comic, or the first comic my Dad ever touched.

But baring the latter, I"d probably choose the first ever comic book of new material, which was New Fun #1 from 1935 iirc.

There are so many but my Holy Grail would be All-American Comics #16 (1940) - The first appearance of the Golden Age Green Lantern.

A runner up would probably be All-Star Comics #3 (1940 again)

Action Comics #1 (1938 series), Then maybe detective #27. Then Amazing fantasy #15 and Amazing Spider-man #1

One of these comics by legendary artist Mac Raboy. I love his Golden Age art.

Just because I love Batman it would be the ultimate collector's piece to own Detective Comics 27 original copy and in perfect shape.

That Captain Marvel Jr art is really great, thanks for posting.

Probably this one, as it introduces my favorite superhero team of all time:

Sorry to bore, but it would be amazing fantasy 15. If all comics were worthless it would probably be something newer with better art. Instead I go with the first appearance of my favorite character

Any of the above mentioned would do and I'm really digging those Captain Marvel Jr. covers. Awesome artwork.

If you pay attention, it's obvious that Raboy's artwork was some of the inspiration for Alan Moore's Miracleman.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I read those in the 80's. It was originally called Marvel Man in the UK back in the 50's. They had to change the name because of Marvel when they published here in the U.S. I remember the original series being almost exactly like Fawcett's Capt. Marvel.

Although Adventure 247 would be my favorite, this one is also on my must-have list:

It would have to be X-Men #57/58 with the Sentinels and Havok:

As tempted as I am to say Action Comics #1, I have to defer to my to true roots and go with Superman #1. Been a Superman fan/collector since I was a kid.

Dull response but Action Comics 1 or Detective 27. Just knowing I was one of the few people in the world to have perfect copies of those comics would make me not want to sell them. I'd also toss in Captain Marvel 1.

FFFFUUU-- maybe even this one, more than Adventure 247. Bigtime Robin fan since I was a kid.

Wolverine has always been a favorite character. And I already have Amazing Spider-Man #129 (which would be my second)

This is one comic I would never sell.

I actually did own that Chuck Norris miniseries when I was young. I owned a lot of those Marvel Star imprint comics, like Chuck Norris, Alf, Silverhawks, He-Man, etc.

A more serious answer would be Batman #442. That is the first comic I ever bought and I will never sell it for any reason. I don't care if I am homeless with not a dollar to my name, I will never sell it.

I'd probably go with either Amazing Spider-Man 43 (my first Spider-Man comic was a reprint of this), or perhaps Adventure Comics 247 (first Legion of Superheroes).

I was going to say one of my Jonah Hex issues, but the truth is that I would most likely keep one of the Chris Claremont Man Thing issues I picked up for a quarter (.25 cents) when I first started collecting comics (uncanny x-men 188 was on the stands...so around 1983, I believe).

Man Thing was the comic that got me hooked on comic books.

I would like to own Batman 23.1 with the 3D cover. My comic book store ran out before I could get a copy.
