Spider-Man gets a sister?

So apparently Peter Parker has a long lost sister that Aunt May never bothered to mention.
UGH.
This sounds like an even stupider retcon than Sins Past with Norman Osborn having sex with Gwen Stacy.

I trust Mark Waid, though, so I don't think it'll be as bad as all that.

But it's Waid and James Robinson. I have no idea why it takes two writers, and hopefully this is a planned collaboration and not a dropped concept or something. Also hopefully this is Starman James Robinson and not pre-Flashpoint JLA Robinson.
This definitely drums up publicity for the OGN, which probably needs it because even with great creators OGNs often get overlooked, but since this happens in the past anyway, I don't see this character having lasting implications or anything. Plus unless they get really convoluted (like they did with the Osbourne/Stacey artificially aged kids), she doesn't have spidey powers or anything anyway.

Re: Spider-Man gets a sister?
Being an OGN there's a good chance they'll wrap things up and she'll be gone for good with no lasting impact. It's probably a little early to try and drum up interest in the book, since it doesn't come out until next May. I like Robinson more often than not, and wonder if his working on this is what lead to his departure from Earth-2. I already know I'm buying this though just for the Dell'otto art.

Geez, I didn't realize it doesn't come out until next May (although when they do release it, the Superior stuff may be over and they can say it happens in normal continuity).

Any chance this is Aunt May's kid, given up for adoption or something? I could see that being a possibility. Mark Waid is a decent writer but this idea sounds bad on the surface.

Remember that old 70s storyarc where Doc Ock and Aunt May almost got married? Maybe Doc Ock is the father...

I wonder when some hack writer (not saying Waid and Robinson are hacks, mind you, just that there's so many convoluted plots in Spidey's history) will finally bring back Uncle Ben.

One More Day and JMS's aforementioned Norman/Gwen artificially aged killer love children have made me a bit cynical about Spidey, in particular.... but the old joke was always that they wouldn't bring back Bucky, Jason Todd, or Uncle Ben, and we're two out of three (even though I categorize Ben as more of an equivalent to Bruce Wayne's parents, and a motivation for the hero to get started... but in Flashpoint we even see that reversed.)

The Bucky thing I agree with, but is there a Jason Todd return story that I don't know about or something? Besides the Superboy Prime retcon punch?
