Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

There was one crossover arc of Jack of Fables/Fables/The Literals that I would say is essential. Other than that, it could probably be skipped.

But it is pretty good.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I'm quite undecided on which ones, if any, to get. Well, I already bought the $.99 collection. Fables seems like something that'd be right up my alley, I love Willingham's older work, and I enjoyed the first trade; but it didn't grab me as much as I thought it might, and is a big investment compared to other titles.

I'll probably wait until next Monday afternoon then impulse overspend.

Thank you. Fortunately all the crossover titles for this are included in the Fables v13: The Great Fables Crossover collection.

I'm kind of surprised they went for 99 cents on Werewolves of the Heartland, since it's very heavily tied into continuity of earlier arcs. It doesn't stand very well on its own.

I feel like the first trade is OK, but Fables really seemed to find its direction with the second trade.

As an aside, I really appreciate DC for not charging tax on digital purchases (yet)... that really adds up with their insane sales. I think DC and Dark Horse (on DHD) are the only two vendors still not charging tax.

I wonder if that varies by state. I don't think any Comixology or Dark Horse purchases have been taxed for me.

But if you go with the trades, you'll still have to shell out for individual issues near the end, right?

The only single issues not collected in the sale trades are Fairest 27-33 (Fairest v5: Clamor For Glamour seemingly doesn't come out until August 19, 2015). However Fairest 27-33 are available as $0.99 singles in this sale.

All but one final issue of Fables (1-149 included) are included in the sale trades (v1-v21). The upcoming last issue of Fables, #150, is odd because seemingly it will only be released in trade format as 'volume 22: farewell' of the series as some sort of individually numbered / graphic novel anomaly - https://www.comixology.com/Fables-Vo...l-comic/246509

In Kansas, digital publications are still exempt from sales tax since you are not receiving a tangible item. For some reason this does not apply to digital downloads of software & videogames which are subject to tax.

They read my letter in this week's Comixologist podcast! I feel guilty giving out the code now, so listen to it, it's a really neat podcast even without me.

Submit code this week is ENORMOUS for 50% off the neat kaiju series Enormous. I think issue #1 was free in the past, so you may own it.

Oni Press sale has 50% off 17 different series (singles and collections) with codeword ONI until 7/27/15. Oni puts out some seriously good stuff; don't miss Letter 44, Queen & Country, I Was the Cat, and others.
https://www.comixology.com/Oni-Linewide-Sale/page/7446

Today only (7/24/15) sale from Marvel on Thunderbolts. $.99 singles on issues 1-32 and annual 1 of the 2012-2014 series.
https://www.comixology.com/Thunderbolts-Sale/page/7442

Graphic India sale on all(?) their books until 7/26/15 using codeword GRAPHIC. 50% off 21 different series. I think the stuff I just got in the current Humble Bundle will be enough to sate my curiosity here.
https://www.comixology.com/Graphic-India-Sale/page/7447

Dark Horse weekend sale is on B.R.P.D.

Just a note on the Oni sale. The code works on all of their series save for the ones just released in the past month or so. So don't limit yourself to the 17 shown.

I really don't get how it is that Dynamite participate in nearly all possible DRM-Free bundle companies, yet most of their comics offered via Comixology are not available as DRM-Free, which rules out me purchasing them.

Their comics are much much cheaper in those bundles, so why not just get them there?

Actually, I went to those sites to better serve you all here. While most of them don't get daily updates without me, each still has active posters that bring new deals to my attention occasionally. But then I figured since I was compiling daily posts for us here, I might as well share the wealth with everyone.

Only a few of those sites actually has an active community that I participate in otherwise. www.classiccomics.boards.net is a fairly active site for old fogeys, although we still discuss the new stuff there too.

I would, and do, when available, but not everything offered in Comixology is available in their bundles, sadly.

True. I've decided to wait at least a year before I buy anything by Dynamite on Dark Horse or Comixology, as the frequency and depth of their multi provider bundles suggests everything may be bundled eventually.
