And it continues...

From Billy on one of my other comic forums, Batman Eternal is also free on Comixology with that batman75 code.

If anyone has a Barnes & Noble Nook, they tweeted a few minutes ago that they have 20 DC Graphic Novels for $4.99 each.

The catch? The deal is in store only. Yes, you have to go to the store to buy a downloadable e-reader file.

So, I have no idea which books are available, because I haven't been in my local B&N to check. The pic on the tweet showed Watchmen, Sandman Vol, 1 and the Batman: Court of Owls TPB.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but Kindle has the original Detective #27 for free. They don't appear to have the special one from Batman Day, though.

I have a trip to Hawaii coming up in 3 months and I've been backlogging series for the trip. 20 hours in an airplane, and then a week and a half of overlooking the ocean with an iPad air.

So far I have The Boys, Preacher, Lucifer, The Unwritten, The Invisibles, Locke and Key, and Transmetropolitan. I'm hoping that Sandman, Fables, Y the Last Man, and Stormwatch go on sale before the trip.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

The flight to Hawaii is where I get my most productive comic reading done. It's a ton of time to read but not so long that I have to sleep. I can usually knock off one of those phone-book-sized trades on a five-hour flight. It'd be ideal to go digital on vacation, but I don't have a tablet.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Today Comixology announced that they will have the option of downloading DRM-Free "backups" of your comics. At this point, it will only apply to a few publishers.

Dearest readers,

I’m excited to share some big news with you: comiXology now offers DRM-free backups.

This new feature allows you to download and store local copies of books in PDF and CBZ format.

For our launch, participating publishers include Image Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, Zenescope Entertainment, MonkeyBrain Comics, Thrillbent, and Top Shelf Productions. In addition, our Submit creators and small publishers are now able to choose to make their books available DRM-free.

As always, you can continue to enjoy all of your purchases - whether available as a DRM-free backup or not - on the comiXology platform in our exclusive cinematic Guided View reading experience, anytime and anywhere. No files required.

Offering DRM-free backups to you and our customers-to-be is another step in taking comics further, and serves our mission to turn everyone on the face of the planet into a comics fan. There is much more to come.

You can find the list of books you own that support DRM-free backup at comixology.com in the My Backups tab of the My Books area.

Learn more about DRM-free books here or on our FAQ page.

Enjoy!

Doesn't sound like a huge deal...don't those publishers already sell comics in .cbz and .pdf format outside of Comixology?

Yes, but iirc, they don't have sales as often as Comixology. Plus, now you can buy their stuff at one site and not worry about remembering what issues you have on each site.

I was looking at Thrillbent. Is it only a monthly subscription deal, or can you buy comics as well? If you can buy them, would you still have access to them if you no longer did the monthly subscription?

You can buy them individually (at least on Comixology, not sure about on their own site) or do the subscription deal, which is more like Netflix.

Six seasons and a movie!

Just kidding, I've been curious about this. I enjoy Hill's books and Locke & Key.

I really want Mark Waid's Empire and Empire II but he only has them on Thrillbent and I want to own them, because not much else interests me over on that site.

I know that you get a free PDF of Empire for subscribing. Not of empire 2, though.

I was going to purchase the 7 volumes of Sin City on the Dark Horse site which run about 12.99 each but I looked on iBooks and found them all 2.99 with volume 7 at 3.99.

Three new sales just started.

Archer & Armstrong sale from Valiant ends 8/1/14, includes old, new, and a bundle.
https://www.comixology.com/Archer-Ar...Sale/page/2849

Annihilation sale from Marvel ends 7/31/14 and includes all 44 issues for $.99 each or bundled for $39.99. But 12 of them were #1s so free last year, making the bundle not very cost effective.
https://www.comixology.com/Annihilation-Sale/page/2828

Guardians of the Galaxy collections sale from Marvel ends 8/3/14 and has 6 collections for varying discount up to 50%.
