I didn't expect to want this, but for $15 I can get about five good books and a lot of crap. Probably worth it.

Giving the books a second look, I'd say there's more good than crappy. I'm pretty happy with my $15 spent and look forward to any additions.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I have the Alex Ross book and Project Superheroes on comixology already, so I'm still hedging, but I learned something new today:

1. There's a new comic based on the Wild Cards books? I didn't know that.
2. George R. R. Martin is/was the guy who put the anthologies/wrote the stories on Wild Cards? I didn't know that either...

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Nothing new yesterday, but some new sales today.

From Viz, Dragon Ball vol 1 is marked down to $1.99, unknown duration.

Today only from Marvel and Bendis, a New Avengers sale. Issues 1-64 and annuals 1-3 for $.99 each or all 67 items bundled for $59.99

From Image, lasting until 6/29, a Elephantman sale. The seven collections priced between $5.99 and $9.99, the 4 issue War Toys mini, and the 53 issues 1-50.

Interestingly, that freebie at Dark Horse the other day is no longer free.

How weird that they're going that far back, considering neither X-Force nor Deadpool from that era are even remotely similar to the current era.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Several new sales. A few of the manga/foreign ones don't appear to have separate sale pages but are found on their main sale page.

The Viz sale looks like it has new stuff.

New, a week long, and timely from IDW: the Patriots Sale!
3 The Dreamer collections
9 GI Joe collections
50 GI Joe singles

A new week long sale from DC on tons of Nightwing.
the 4 issue 1995 mini
all (?) 156 issues of the 1996-2009 series
the first 28 issues of the 2011 new 52 series
13 misc. issues including the classic Judas Contract storyline

DC is going to release the complete Japanese Batman series for the 60s. Portions were featured in the Chip Kidd book Batmanga.

It wil be released digitally first, then as three books.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Three new sales today, no links or full details because I'm camping and not supposed to be doing this.

From IDW, ending 7/7, a recent hits sale. Some of it appears to repeat what's in the expanding humble bundle.

From Marvel, Captain America, ending 7/6, 1-15 of 2012 series and 1-32 of 2002 series

From Monkeybrain, thru 7/6, 50% off 200+ books with code INDIE, and a 46 book bundle for $25.

Missed one before someone on another forum pointed it out. Dark Horse has all of their anthology series on sale thru the 6th. Great stuff in that book. 80 pages for a buck is a steal.

I actually really liked Spider-Man and X-Men 2099 at the time. I also remember wondering where in the world Ravage came from.

From the mind of Stan Lee, of course!

Those were my two favorite 2099 books, but I loved X-men and Ron Lim at the time, so that probably colored my view. Whatever happened to Lim, anyway? The dude was super prolific on a monthly basis at Marvel (kinda like Bagley) but I don't remember seeing him much lately.

I would've been tempted with the sale if it was a big bundle with all the issues, but I don't see the point just reliving the first 10 or so issues.

I was just thinking those same things. Off to google Lim now...

And yes, a big bundle may have swayed me, but I already own those early issues in print.

Maybe that 2009 mini though, never heard of it until now. Anyone read it?

The best 2099 books were Ghost Rider 2099 and Warren Ellis' Doom 2099.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Comixology was very timely on their sale rollover last night. I was doing some last minute shopping with a bunch of Nightwing in my cart at 2300 exactly. When I hit place order the prices changed in my cart to full price, so 'empty cart' it was.

The Avatar bundle on Alan Moore's Fashion Beast is all ten issues for $9.99 and lasts until 7/13/14.

From Image, a Mind the Gap sale lasts until 7/10/14.
issue 1 is free, 2-17 are $.99 each
three collections collecting 1-15 are $4.99, $5.99, $6.99
a bundle of issues 1-16 is $13.99

From DC, we get a week long sale on several incarnations of Suicide Squad.
issues 1-50 of the 1987-1992 series
issues 1-12 of the 2001-2002 series
issues 1-8 of the 2007-2008 series
issues 1-30 and 0 of the new 52 series
a new freebie, Suicide Squad 101

Another new freebie that I stumbled upon is CX Karma #3.

Edit to add: thru 7/13, Marvel has $5 off certain collections with code FIVEOFF

Do the Mind the Gap collections have a lot of extras or something? Because it seems a lot cheaper to just buy the individual issues.

I haven't gone digital yet, but this post makes yearn to go back and reread my Vol 1 ('87) Suicide Squads. Great series.

Went through the link, and I felt like a Cranky Old Man because the covers got progressively worse (IMHO) as the volumes increased. The New52 covers do not entice me to try them at all...

Something to be said for the simplicity of the '80s covers. I mean #1 is just fantastic.
