Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Amazon was able via chat to cancel the order and refund the cash portion of the order stating it will take 3-5 business days for the refund. But the portion that was my no rush shipping credits was non returnable. So basically I was going to lose $9.01 of my digital credits. I complained and they refunded that to my credit card. I suggested just giving it as store credit or digital credit yet they said it was the only way. So in the end I will have back everything in 3-5 days.

Maybe it is time to stop using the Kindle App on my phone.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

After looking through what was available on Comixology (214 titles) and comparing it to Amazon (146) it seems there are more on Comixology. Some of the free titles I got from Comixology are $0.99-$2.99 on Amazon. Not sure where to get over 250 titles unless some of that count are titles free to read on DC Universe only.

Yeah, the kindle/Comixology link-up is a little nutty at times, taking time to migrate to Comixology. I couldn’t find them on Comixology at first, thinking they had them hidden in the store as they updated pricing or something. So I went to Amazon.

I bought well over 100 on Amazon, but then when I figured out that searching ‘Scooby” on Comixology was almost useless, you need “Scooby-doo”, they were mostly all still marked as unowned. Nice of Comixology to make them all free inside of those three series, making “add all to cart” an easy option.

Back to that Groupees bundle, they keep adding titles. If it hits 12k and adds The Metabarons, it just may be the best bundle ever.

And today when my refund email came through, it showed I was getting the $9.01 back in digital credit. I checked and it is back on my account. Therefore the extra refund to my credit card was not required (which is what I tried telling the CS rep).

So I contacted them today to get them to cancel the extra refund and they told me they cannot. They told me to enjoy the extra refund. I did my best to convince them to somehow not give me the extra refund. So odd to try to convince them to try. I basically told them I'd do the same the other way around so why just keep it without reaching out to make it right.

Wanted to point out if you use no rush shipping credits and return a digital item you should actually get the credit back as long as it is not past expiration. Which is exactly what I tried to tell the CS rep.

Same here. Wish the Scooby Apocalypse were in the freebie list.

I see the error in my counting now.
214 individuals and 9 collected editions = 223 from Comixology compared to 146 from Amazon.

Only 181 freebies for me, as I had already bought 42 of the team-up singles. :(

Can I ask why everyone is grabbing hundreds of Scooby Doo titles? Are you really going to read them or is it just because they are free? If they were paper copies I would take them and give them out to kids.

I'm going to read them, they are free and I'll have them available on my table for when my kid wants to read them. What's the problem grabbing these books, may I ask?

I feel like I will read these. It may be that the plots end up being too simplistic or kid-like but especially the team up books with the DC heroes look like popcorn fun to browse through. Comic books might be an interesting way to expand on the formula with the Scooby televisions shows.

I’ve never read the main Scooby-Doo title, but the team-up book is one of the best big two books going.

Even if I didn't have kids these are free titles that exist on the cloud and don't take up any appreciable resources so I don't see the harm.

The downside is that they’re going to bury all my other “recent purchases” in the CMX app.

Wife and I share a kindle account so while I bought the collections there, I got the singles on CMX. ;)

Ah. Well I didn't see the need to buy the singles when the collections are there... these were web comics of some kind before? Because they seem to be split in two?

There's not a problem. I was just curious why everyone was snapping up hundreds of a kid's comics that they probably won't ever read. I cite Trevor since he has mentioned that he already has enough stuff to read for the rest of his life already. I literally have about 2000 comics that I have yet to read. Comics could stop publishing tomorrow and I would have years and years of reading without a problem. So I was basically curious if people were snatching them up just because of the word "free" next to the title.

Yeah, if not for my kids I probably wouldn't bother getting the mainline Scooby title, especially since they're individual issues. But I would still get the team up ones because of the crossovers. In fact, I have a bunch of them in physical issues because back when I was doing regular DCBS pulls I would always set aside all the DC kids comics.

Kid’s comics?! Aren’t most all of them? I think many ‘kids comics’ better than most big two superhero books, but individual tastes and all. And you can always archive them if you find you don’t like them and don’t want them cluttering up your library.

I can see you point but many of these Scooby books are fun, like the Team-Up one. It's something that kids and adults can enjoy.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I picked up a bunch of them, mostly the Team Ups.
I'll admit, in the past I have added pretty much anything free to my cart.
I don't anymore. Most #1's I avoid, though I will get one-shots. But there's a lot I skip over in the free sections. And I very much like the 'archive' function.

Ok I give. I see everyone's point. I personally hate having so much clutter in files. I forget what is good and not so good so I only take the freebies I think I would enjoy. And your right Trevor, I guess a man in a costume fighting crime is just as silly as a talking talk solving mysteries.

On a side note, I've been reading this webtoon (warning, adults only, and it...morphs a lot from the original concept) because of Scoob! and a renewal of interest in the property:

https://www.webtoons.com/en/challeng...itle_no=210827

and you don't even have to download anything or muddy your digital library... :)

Another Kodansha Humble Bundle:

To my knowledge these are all complete series.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Comixology has a DC Memorial Day sale.... lots of good ones, have only gone through 1/3 of the list and I already have a dozen titles on my list.

Being new to Comixoogy, I have to ask the veterans here, are these prices as good as it gets? Don't wanna spend $100+ only to find lower prices later.

Looking to buy the thick books to get more bang for my buck. Looking at Batman: Knightfall vols 1-3, Batman Eternal, Silver Age Doom Patrol, Green Arrow Kevin Smith, Batgirl & Catwoman titles, etc. What other books would you recommend that are worth the sale price?
