Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

The Marvel 'What If' sale has a $0.99 collection (discounted from $8.99); this is the second time the collection has been $0.99 discounted although it does seem like a potential mistake -

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Hmm, that's a good price. I wonder if I'd read it, though. I haven't read Secret Invasion, World War Hulk, or the other events they list. I read some of Astonishing X-Men but am pretty sure I'd want to read the whole thing before trying an "alternate" version.

Last night I saw a Vertigo line-wide sale, and a Green Arrow sale, but those are both gone today. I guess they're coming soon.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

A Vertigo line wide sale would destroy me...

Edit:... and crap a 60% discount at that!

Yep, Vertigo is live, as is Green Arrow--The Longbow Hunters is five bucks for the three issues. There's also a Luke Cage sale with the Marvel Masterworks and PMIF Epic Collection only $3.99 each.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Anyone have Luke Cage recommendations? Interested on potentially reading a few comics with him before the show, preferably from the sale list since i'd buy from Amazon. Does the old stuff hold up ok?

I haven't read a lot of it, but generally speaking the old Luke Cage series has always been considered b-level material at best. I think the Power-Man & Iron Fist era is more highly regarded, but it's still not top of the line stuff. That said, if you have any interest in the material at all, 3.99 for that Epic collection is akin to stealing. For the price of a single new comic, you get a 500 page trade? That's a good deal even if it sucks.

I loved Luke Cage and Iron Man as a kid, and still do. Having said that, he really took off under Bendis and the New Avengers run. He's barely the same character in New Avengers that you see even in Alias, which was also written by Bendis just a year or so earlier.

That's a good point, might just get that Epic collection so I can read a little bit on both those characters since I'm sure I'll want to read more Iron Fist inevitably when his series comes out.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I was a big Iron Fist fan back in the day, but at some point I must've just stopped reading it, or stopped reading comics. I was reading the IF Epic and midway through the Byrne run it became unfamiliar. So I never read the PM/IF series, though the characters appeared in the Miller Daredevil series.

I've read the first issue of Luke Cage but not much else. But as rocket said, those two volumes are such good deals that I bought both.

I liked the New Avengers but only got a couple volumes in.

After the last couple of sales I finally have everything I ever wanted in back issue digitally. Now it is just about maintaining current ongoing series. Anyone else caught up with their wish lists?

My wish list grows daily. Besides the thousands of monthly releases, I'm discovering golden to Bronze Age stuff all the time.

I think I'll be done when I have all the comics.

I'm not caught up because I'm new to digital, and also some stuff I want is not yet available.

Comixology has a Deadly Class sale, as well as two Star Wars sales, with a pretty good deal on collections of the recent Marvel series.

Iron Fist sale! The $3.99 Epic would be a great companion to the PM/IF. I liked the new series too but only read the first trade.

DC Flashpoint sale with a lot of random first volumes for the New 52 and more for around 50% off.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

These $3.99 sales from Marvel are destroying the value of my past purchases. I'm pretty much done buying singles from them.

At least these Iron Fist collections are pretty much all new to me.

Got an email for an Image NYCC sale on their site, but I don't see it mirrored on Comixology yet.

Seems strange to me as well.

The image sale is available on their website:
https://imagecomics.com/highlights/y...al-comics-sale

but isn't appearing on Comixology. At least yet.

Now it was finally updated in Comixology as well, along with a large Marvel sale and 50% off Boom! comics (but only Image offers DRM-free books, so that's the only one I'm interested in)

The Boom code is good on all Boom titles and Imprints, not just the ones listed on the sale page.

Damn, a Defenders sale! Fortunately I have probably all the Bronze Age stuff from Masterworks and the recent Epic.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Supergirl collections sale, with not-great prices of $5.99 (for stuff that's usually $12-13), but Crisis on Infinite Earths is $20 list so I might get that one.

Xena and Army of Darkness sale

Dark Horse digital is running a sale on horror comics. So far I don't see it being run on Comixology.

50% of the IDW line with code "idw". Plus - if you hurry, you get a double discount using that code on the already on sale IDW Horror books. nice !

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

^That IDW horror stacking is pretty sweet (unless you already bought some of them ).

They're advertising the IDW sale as "digital clearance." Not even sure what that means.

Fear Itself sale:

Nick Spencer sale:
