Just got my Invincible V1 Omnibus and I have to say this book is a steal for the price. It's printed on high quality glossy paper- for a 1000+ pg book

That sucks.
Probably old news, but I just stumbled across the motion comic from MTV2. I wouldn't say it's good, but you can judge for yourself.

I just got Kirkman's Wolfman in the mail from gohastings...the crazy thing is that it actually came shipped in a box. I've ordered hundreds of things from them, and aside from the big TNG complete set, I've never had anything but padded envelopes.
Yeah, I know this has nothing to do with Invincible, but I stuck Kirkman in it to make it fit.

Re: Invincible Compendium: 2000+ pg of Invincible goodness
Thanks for the tip. I do periodic searches for Invincible and The Walking Dead to find out when the next volume is coming out. I was thinking about trying Invincible again as I was reading the new Walking Dead but I guess I didn't get around to it. Since I buy most of these from Amazon, they should have a better way of letting me know when a new one is coming out. I do get occasional e-mails about books by authors whose stuff I've previously purchased but it seems sporadic. Right now my best hope is to have it show up in my Gold Box picks for an extra 5% off.

Glad it wasn't just me.
I actually thought about your troubles with the preorder on the page where they referenced Guardians of the Globe vol 1.

I finally have joined into your pain, as Guardians showed up in my gold-box yesterday. Maybe I'll bring some luck to the release date.

Re: Invincible Compendium: 2000+ pg of Invincible goodness
Anyone else have a problem with the double standard Kirkman seems to have regarding depicting sex vs. depicting violence in Invincible.
First off, I do like the book a lot, especially since it doesn't dick around with any tropes like Moore did or do the whole 'dark superhero' crap that DC and Marvel did for nearly 15 years.
My complaint, and you may say it's a lame one is that while Kirkman obviously has zero problem showing the most gruesome and violent scenes imaginable in the comic, ie; heros being cut in half by other heros, arms being ripped off, oceans of blood etc, whenever Marc and Eve start foreplay it's like Kirkman turns into the morality police and rushes in and pulls a curtain screaming, "NOTHING TO SEE HERE!!! HEY LOOK IT'S ALLEN THE ALIEN AND HE'S EATING SOME GROSS ALIEN FOOD!!!!"
What a goddamn double standard. If you're going to show people getting torn in half and getting their arms torn off and all of the gore associated with that, you can damn well show Eve sucking Marks' cock and riding him reverse cowgirl and taking a facial.

I don't have a problem with it. I'm surprised by the gore at times but I certainly don't think nudity and graphic depictions of sex will add much to the story. On the other hand, the gore does serve a purpose, as far as showing the effects of their fighting. As I said in the other thread, Hickman really likes guts. Of course, I'm the guy who doesn't think the nudity in stuff like Game of Thrones adds much either, while a guy decapitating a horse or slicing off a head are pretty important to setting the tone of the story.
It's also par for the course in superhero books. You can depict Ultimate Hulk ripping Ultimate Wolvie in half and Ultimate Magneto murdering millions, but no nudity.

In a book about super powered aliens who conquer galaxies, violence is pretty important to the story. Doggystyle, not so much.
But if you want that, there's always Rule 34.

I don't understand how "hypocrisy" or "double standard" would even come into this discussion.
Is Kirkmen out there saying other people should be loading up their books with more sexual content?
