I stopped doing SW autographs. All mine have died: Chewie, R2D2, Princess Leia

Who is she? She looks a little familiar, but I can't recall what I've seen her in.

Maybe Trish Stratus. I had to Google "Trish" and "Wrestling" and it pulled up her name. The t-shirt that Obi-Wanma is wearing threw me off since it said "Anna Jay". I'm not a wrestling fan, so I don't know many of those that participate in that genre.

Re: Comic Conventions

Over the weekend, I went to Wondercon in Anaheim. Had a good time, however I think I goofed with one of my purchases that I am kind of regretting.

A found a booth that was selling "hard to find" cartoons, movies and shows on DVD. Yes, they were bootlegs, And indeed a lot of the stuff was things that are currently not being sold legally.

So I asked if they had the old 80s cartoon Voltron and the guy did indeed have it. It was in 2 sets. The Lion Force and the Vehicle Force. He said if I bought only 1, it was $60. If I bought 2, he would sell both for $80. So I splurged and got both.

I went home later that night and checked the quality and it was actually really good. But, I later checked Amazon and to my dismay, I could have bought the same product, a legal studio version, for $37 (both sets combined) I guess I should have researched it more carefully with my phone before I pulled the trigger on an overpriced boot. Dammit,

Sorry I missed these posts last week. But yes, Trish Stratus.

Anna Jay is another wrestler, I just happened to be wearing that shirt.

Trish also had the longest line at this particular con, by far.

Re: Comic Conventions

Came back from Heroescon and even though it's an amazing show where you can find almost every book imaginable, most of the dealers are still pricing things like if it was 2021. The market has course corrected itself, yet these dealers insist on pricing so high that even when haggling, the books are overpriced. And I'm not talking about major key issues. I'm talking about books with foil, or Mexican variants or minor key issues with random villains. Everyone at the show was complaining about the prices and most people playing a game of chicken with the dealers to see if the brought down prices by Sunday. Some did, but many did not.

Re: Comic Conventions

I was at Heroes also. The wall books were insane, but like usual there were deals in the boxes. TNT comics went 50% off the entire booth on Sunday, as I cleaned up there.

I did overhear one dealer saying he knows his books are too high, but some of them were purchased during last years boom, and are now worth less than what he payed, and now hes stuck.

San Diego Comic Con is going to be pretty bare on panels.

Disney, Sony, HBO, Netflix, and Universal aren't participating WBD is undecided at the moment.

If there is an actors strike, that will pretty much nix all panels. Showrunners, writers already can't participate due to the WGA strike.

Re: Comic Conventions

SDCC has changed so much since I used to attend, I wonder (even IF I could get tix) I would still be attending each year.

Re: Comic Conventions

Yeah, I went 2005-2007, and in 2005 it was awesome. On preview night I ran around getting tons of free sketches in my sketchbook. By 2007 sketches were getting pricey and it was hard to move around the floor.

I only did Hall H once; I sat through a bunch of panels so I could see Tenacious D do a little mini concert.

Re: Comic Conventions

I'd be pissed if I bought passes and there were no panels. They should offer refunds and lower the price. The most greedy non-profit since the Catholic church.

Re: Comic Conventions

Hall H is a big event every summer. It sounds like there's going to be nothing of note to promote this year with hardly anyone there.

I know a lot of people who buy tickets SDCC go solely for the panels and autograph sessions. And people fly from all over the country and book super over priced hotels just to go. I would be upset if there is nothing worthwhile other than just shopping.

IGN does like 3 days of live streams from SDCC. If no big studios participate, they would literally have nothing for their shows.

Re: Comic Conventions

I go damn near every year (have since 2000 other than pandemic) and was mostly every year before that going back to '89
I'm usually pumped as it's always been like going to summer camp for me and the kids. But over that past like 10yrs, prices go up and said 'pumpedness' goes down. I'm not even that pumped for this year. Most updates have hardly interested me. At this point it "going just to go" type of thing that costs me hundreds. I have been saying it for a while now but I feel like maybe this will be the last year I attend. I can always just enjoy the free shit outside if I get the urge to go see whats all going on.
Tickets go up like $10 every year and for what? We've been loosing activities every time. I'd be more happy if it went back to comics at this point.

Re: Comic Conventions

DC Studios will not be at San Diego CC this year. However, I read that DC will still have a presence there with other projects.

Re: Comic Conventions

Isn't the writer strike and the impending actors strike holding everything back in terms of having studios at SDCC?

Tentative schedule for TV and Film panels at Comic Con. But, if there is an actor's strike, some of these panels could be killed.

Pretty excited for the weekend. Photo opp and autograph with Ian McDiarmid at a local convention. Should be awesome. Just have to try and not make a fool of myself and be normal around him.

Re: Comic Conventions

I am thinking of going to a comic convention here in Tulsa in August. The $25 admission price is kind of a turn off however.

$25 is nothing. Comic Conventions here in Los Angeles and I think in NY are between $40 and 50 for admission.

Even more for NYCC. $70 plus fees this year for a single day ticket.
