Did they look through things like comic book boxes or other boxes that looked like they had merchandise in them, or did they just check through backpacks and purses?

I didn't see anyone carrying boxes at all. But Fayetteville is not a big comic crowd like Heroes is.

Never been to that one even though its only about 40 minutes from there. What do they have there if they have no comics or related merchandise?
it's a great show and I got several silver age I was looking for. |
Re: Comic Conventions
Went to the Washington State Summer Con last weekend and had a great time. They limited capacity and didn't feel surrounded or crowded at any time. Had some good comic creators (Starlin, Rubinstein, Milgrom, Claremont and more) along with some celebs. Got a photo with Mike Colter (Powerman) and Lou Ferrigno (OG Hulk). No clear bag rules :)

Re: Comic Conventions
Joefest was incredible. I will be going back for sure. I've never seen so many toys in one place and plenty of comic dealers too
|
Re: Comic Conventions
Joefest is named after GI Joe? That’s amazing.

Yup, I was almost overwhelmed. So many boxed vehicles and figures, stuff I had not seen since childhood. Toys I had never seen before at all.

I can't believe how expensive some of those things are. I remember my friend had the aircraft carrier when we were kids. I think they were around $100-$120 new back then. Looking on Ebay, a new in box one sold for $7K and used ones are going for over $3K.

I don’t know if I would’ve gone, but I wish I’d known about Summer Con. I don’t attend a lot of cons, though, so I’m not really in the loop. Maybe I could’ve seen Starlin and got a copy of Dreadstar Returns, which I backed. ;) There was some uproar from Kickstarter backers that it was available at a con before they’d received it.

https://patch.com/massachusetts/milf...s-extravaganza This looks somewhat interesting. Only a 30min drive from me. NRBQ and Barrence Whitfield are great. I had no idea Kreskin was even alive. Geez. |
Re: Comic Conventions
Going to Los Angeles Comic Con on December 5th at the LA Convention Center.
My main purpose is for a photo op and autograph of none other than Ming Na Wen I actually met her once at a different con 5 years ago when she was promoting Agents of Shield. But, I assume she will be promoting Book of Boba Fett. But, I'm there to get her to sign my Joy Luck Club BD. That's when I first became a fan of hers. I also bought an autograph ticket for Kevin Conroy to have sign my Batman the animated series BD set. And I got a autograph ticket for Tom Welling from Smallville. But I already met Welling before and took a photo with him. I am getting it again to have him sign it for a good friend of mine, who is a huge fan and can't be there. It's going to be her Christmas gift. |
Re: Comic Conventions
She was on an episode of Pretty Smart on Netflix.
The mom of one of the characters. |

Are they going to have her behind plexiglass for the photo op? That's what they did at the last con I was at, and it killed my interest in doing any photo ops.
Worst case scenario, I have to wear a mask standing next to her, I can deal with that. Katee Sackhoff and Ming Na Wen were at a Con in Texas recently and they did pose for photo ops without a mask |
Re: Comic Conventions
Just got my tickets delivered for the Emerald City Comic Con in December but not overly excited/looking forward to it. Not a great number of celebs and comic guests announced so far.

Re: Comic Conventions
Anyone going to attend North East con next week?

Re: Comic Conventions
Our local convention, Comic Book I-Con, doesn't seem to be happening for the 2nd year in a row. I'm not that surprised, but I miss going to cons.
I've won the trivia contest at the con for almost 10 years straight. The one year I didn't, Timmy Williams from The Whitest Kids You Know signed up at the last minute and defeated me. I'd be cool with that, but he's never come back for a rematch. Now I wonder if I'm really earning those wins, or if it's just because he's not there. |

Re: Comic Conventions
So San Diego Comic Con special edition is this weekend. I've been following some pop culture writers who are there and watching a live YouTube video and it's very subdued. Looks like no movie studios or TV networks are participating like the summer version. It's basically comics, toys, collectibles, Cos players, Funko Pop and art. It doesn't look crowded at all. There's still people, but nothing like how crazy the summer version is. There appears to be some panels, but nothing that involves any special announcements.
Basically this is like an old school con and you just need lots of cash to buy things you don't really need. :D I am looking forward to LA Comic Con in a few weeks. |
Re: Comic Conventions
So I will be going to LA Comic Con tomorrow as I posted about a few weeks ago.
So in addition to Ming-Na Wen auto and photo op, Kevin Conroy autograph and Tom Welling autograph for my friend, I purchased another Welling and Rosenbaum autograph to have them sign my Smallville 20th anniversary complete series BD set. Yeah that's a lot of money for autographs, but you know what, you only live once and I want to enjoy a special day. They will be checking Vaccination cards and will require masks. So there's that. and apparently the photo ops will be professional and won't have plexi-glass. |
Re: Comic Conventions
That's a lot of autographs. Do you display them or something?
