What about Megan Gale, the Aussie actress, 5'11 who was supposed to be in the George Miller JLA movie?
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/561...ieclaireaw.jpg She definitely looks the part. The other pictures I saw of her online were really hot, but really strong at the same time. Unfortunately I have to agree with the poster who said this picture looks kind of creepy. The expression on her face makes her look like a real doll and probably sticky to the touch. |
Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
Jesus..look at the way she slims down at the bottom. Holy...how thin is she?

Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
Why are comics fans so anti-change? The new costume looks awesome. I just bought the first and only WW comic I've ever bought.
The new costume looks great, IMO. WW no longer looks like a prostitute. |

The new costume looks great, IMO. WW no longer looks like a prostitute. More troubling for me is the writer's decision to take everything that makes Wonder Woman unique and throw it out in favor of a warmed-over copy of Superman's back story. |

The new costume looks 15 years out of date, but whatever. This will be like every other costume change over the years -- it will last for 12 or 18 or 24 months or whatever, then they'll be back to the classic look (BTW, if you've ever seen a real prostitute, she'll probably be dressed a lot more like the new costume than the classic costume)

 I like Darwin Cooke's take on WW in "The New Frontier". In the extras section, he says he made WW larger and taller than Superman. He went with the classic image of the Amazon Woman. And oh, I don't like WW in HEELS!!! She's an Amazon! She doesn't need heels! http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/...6034940200.jpg |

I think Megan Gale might have gotten a brow lift judging by an older photo:

Either she's had some more plastic surgery in the past few years, or wears a fastastic push-up bra:

The article someone sent me said she is starring in a Steven Soderbergh film opposite some big name actors (Ewan McGregor, Banderas, Fassbinder, Michael Douglas) & Soderbergh chose her for the part. Like I said, I don't know who she is, but for me the perfect Wonder Woman (at least lookwise) is the chick from Legend of the Seeker. When I first started watching the show I just kept thinking this is the perfect Wonder Woman.
I kinda like Serinda Swan (she plays Zatanna on Smallville at times). http://tv.rightcelebrity.com/wp-cont...nda_Swan_1.JPG http://s1.hubimg.com/u/2570160_f496.jpg |

Should I be as depressed as I am that all it takes to turn Wonder Woman into a hit comic is changing her costume? Perhaps, but that doesn't change the fact that #600 of the Amazon Princess' comic is being rushed into a second printing following the three-day sellout of the initial print run and what's being called "phenomenal" downloads of the free preview. As a sign that Diana's makeover is making waves beyond comics circles, it's interesting to note that the news was broken exclusively on Nikki Finke's movie industry Deadline Hollywood blog. Coming soon: She-Hulk reconsiders leggings, and Variety gets the exclusive first look! Read more: http://techland.com/2010/07/02/wonde...#ixzz0smpqIuwE |

I think it's funny that the new costume, replacing the bustier and shorts with long pants and a blazer, is an "edgier outfit".

The fact this sold out quick wasn't because of the costume change. It sold out because it is a landmark issue (#600) and those tend to sell quickly just for that. The bad thing is that people's reaction to the change would certainly turn away fans from purchasing issue #601.

Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
Did Superman 700 or Batman 700 also sell out quickly this past month? I think the buzz of WW's new costume helped sales of this particular issue.

Lots of attention for good old Diana. |

That's historically true, and no doubt plays a role here, but this book also got a lot of press which certainly helped with the sellout as well. So you have comic fans who like anniversary issues, fans who read about the outfit and want to see what thats about, and people who might have caught an article in NYT and wanted to see what the fuss is about.

Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
I don't disagree. Chris Nesseman, of the 11 O'Clock Comics podcast, said in the most recent show that Justice League should become Diana's book. She should really take the reigns there, and be showcased as the "leader" of that group. I would like to see that.
Wonder Woman does have a shit rogues gallery, but I don't think having a strong rogues gallery is vital to being a popular character. It helps a great deal, and all the biggies have them (even Aquaman has a better rogues gallery), but I think if she was written exceptionally well (which might have been happening under Gail Simone, I wasn't reading so I don't know), while also allowing DC to have her stories matter to the larger DC univers? (think how Marvel allows Brubaker to really change the face of Cap, or Fraction with Iron-Man) She might be able to take off. That, or just let Geoff Johns write it. -wink- To be fair, I really thought the Alen Heinberg post OYL story was really good. If there were no shipping delays, that might have been the book to do it. |
Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
That costume sucks (looks more like something Wonder Girl should wear) and changing her origin is lame but it won't last. I remember the last major change she had back in the early 70's turned off a lot of people but after rereading them a few years later I actually found myself liking them. Besides, the artwork by Sekowsky and Giordano (with a little help from Neal Adams) was really good and the stories with Dr. Cyber were worth reading. But it was a good thing they gave her powers back after the 200th (203?) issue. The change just ran it's course and I'm sure it will be the same for this. I will read a few to see if they are any good but like I said I can't get over that costume change.

Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
Wonder Woman is already a leader of sorts along with Batman and Superman. DC has made it clear that they are the "Trinity" that all other DC Heroes get their strength and motivation from.

Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
Don't expect the costume change to last that long, for two reasons:
1) What we're seeing is almost an Elseworlds alternate history storyline. 2) The estate of William Marston--who DC Comics a special agreement with in regards to the Wonder Woman character--may not want the drastic change to last more than two years at most. |
Re: DC Comics give Wonder Woman a makeover.
I was interested in reading Donna as Wonder Woman, before the book got so behind and ended before it really ever started. The one big push she got, the whole scene with Maxwell Lord that illustrated the difference between her and supes... isn't that entirely forgotten anyway as a result of events in the new Justice League International book? I thought that was a catalyst for a whole bunch of stuff pre-52...
