Comic drawer boxes

I'm not sure how good of a response I'll get here, but thought it was worth a try! Does anyone here have these? They seem like they'd really come in handy, especially for me, who has toys stacked on top of my boxes that I have to move to get into them. How well do they work.. like in stability and durability? Is there one brand better than another? I've found some okay priced ones online.. I'm not going to pay $10 a box in the comic store.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Link, pics? I'm not exactly sure of the product you are talking about.

I only bought one so far (an official DrawerBox) to see if I'd like them.

Boy, they are as convenient as they are expensive. (Shipping is a killer!) (Although traditional boxes aren't so cheap these days either.)

If my entire collection was housed in these things life would be so much simpler. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't be able to afford any new comics for a year if I attempted to convert.

The temptation of a healthy back and hernia avoidance is a lure too.

Yep!

On average, I see them at $10 a piece in stores. That would be a few hundered dollars for me to convert all of my boxes!

I just need some long box lids. Any ideas where I can get some cheap?

TC Bulk? Search "Replacement Storage Box Lids" under Magazine and Comic Supplies.

The only thing that would concern me is that all boxes as well as lids seem to vary slightly. They might not fit perfectly.

TC Bulk aslo has a version of DrawerBox although I can't vouch for the quality. I've bought regular boxes that I've been satisfied with.

Looks like they also offer just the drawer box shells which I've seen some places offer up as a replacement solution in combination with your existing boxes. I have my doubts about the swapping out method though...

The "official" ones are great. Very strong and resilient.

The generic ones that I've seen are sleeves that you're existing long boxes, minus the lids, slide in. They're not as strong and will show some warping eventually. This scares me a bit but they're much more affordable.

Almost made the plunge when I moved earlier this year. Ended up building a cubby shelving unit in the one closet that should hold about 18-20 long boxes comfortably which should get me through for awhile as I'm only sitting with 16 boxes so far. I highly recommend if you have the room doing something like as it was very cheap to do.

I just bought 20 more Drawer Boxes. They seem to be the highest quality. I currently have 16 of them and I think they are the way to go for large collections.
A local dealer who sets up at a comic show in the area occasionally sels them for $10 apiece. Another comic shop in my are will sell them for $10 apiece but you have to buy 20 miniumum.
