I'm in - though 2 of my answers could be flat-out wrong & 1 is probably too obscure...

I'm hoping to post the results tomorrow. It may bleed into Wednesday, but I may be able to get it all done in a day.

I almost sent you a note about Movie Sheep Result Day stepping on Comic Book Talk Result Day, but then I decided not to.

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages! The doors are now closed for Comic Book Sheep! We've got a great group of contestants this time. Let's gve a big round of applause to:

Meatwad's Ghost
MHepburn20
dadaluholla
ivelostr2
davidh777
fujishig
reverie
Trevor
Rockmjd23
Nick Danger
dvdhook
CaptainMarvel
MBoyd
brianluvdvd
The Bus
Palaver
maxfisher
RKilgore
Mordred
Prepper
Bandit03
fumanstan
Hokeyboy
Lokimok
burnside986

And I'm your Sheepmaster (and also a contestant), JasonF

Even as we speak, we are hard at work here in the Sheepcave feeding your answers into the Sheepomatic 9000 -- the most sophisticated and advanced computer ever employed in the service of a Sheep game. Everything should be tabulated by tomorrow, at which point we will begin announcing the results.

While we're waiting for the computer to spit out the results, I will tell you that there was one question for which everybody gave the same answer. Can you guess which question?

9. Name one of Batman's enemies?

Palaver 06-22-09 08:16 PM

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

That would be my guess as well.

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

And we're back! The results are in and we are ready to go!

Before we get started, let's take a look at the initial standings:

MHepburn20 - 0
dadaluholla - 0
ivelostr2 - 0
davidh777 - 0
fujishig - 0
reverie - 0
Trevor - 0
Rockmjd23 - 0
Nick Danger - 0
dvdhook - 0
CaptainMarvel - 0
MBoyd - 0
brianluvdvd - 0
The Bus - 0
Palaver - 0
maxfisher - 0
RKilgore - 0
Mordred - 0
Prepper - 0
Bandit03 - 0
fumanstan - 0
Hokeyboy - 0
Lokimok - 0
burnside986 - 0
JasonF - 0
Meatwad's Ghost - -5

Uh-oh! It looks like somebody didn't follow the instructions to put one answer on each line with no answer numbers. Don't worry, Meatwad's Ghost -- there's still plenty of time to make up the points once we get into the contest proper.

As for the question everyone gave the same answer to .... well, you'll just have to wait and see.

And with that ... away we go!

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Question 1: Name a Golden Age character who has appeared regularly in comics at some point during this decade

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...egel/JSA50.jpg

The Golden Age of comics began in 1938 with the introduction of Superman and continued until sometime in the mid-to-late-40s, when the public lost interest in superheroes. The Justice Society was a team of DC's pre-eminent Golden Age characters, and while Marvel Comics as we know it wasn't around then, its corporate predecessor Timely gave us Captain America, the Sub-Mariner and the original Human Torch.

JasonF 06-23-09 10:09 AM

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

And our answers to Question 1 are:

Superman (12): JasonF, Meatwad's Ghost, MHepburn20, davidh777, Trevor, Nick Danger, dvdhook, CaptainMarvel, maxfisher, Mordred, fumanstan, Hokeyboy
Batman (6): Rockmjd23, brianluvdvd, The Bus, Palaver, Prepper, Lokimok
Captain America (4): dadaluholla, ivelostr2, MBoyd, burnside986
Flash (3): fujishig, RKilgore, Bandit03
Spider-Man (0): reverie

Surprisingly, even though we had one entrant whose user-name qualifies as an answer -- Captain Marvel -- that entrant made the wise choice of answering something else.

JasonF 06-23-09 10:10 AM

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Come on, people. Make some noise! This isn't going to be as much fun if you're not going to make fun of reverie for thinking Spider-Man was a Golden Age character.

JasonF 06-23-09 10:19 AM

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Question 2: Other than Jack Kirby, name a Golden Age creator

We had to take Kirby out of the equation, because let's face it -- Kirby is the King of Comics. All other take a backseat to him. So who are the others?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...l/creators.gif
Well, Siegel and Shuster are two of them ... but one of them didn't get mentioned at all, and the other got beaten by two other creators. Time to cross your fingers and hope you gave the most popular answer ...

JasonF 06-23-09 10:22 AM

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

I see what the problem is. The Bus is running his Movie Sheep results at the exact same time as these results. What a jerk. We're going to delay our results until Movie Sheep is done, and penalize the Bus a million points for Sheep-blocking us.

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

I'm guessing somebody (multiple somebodies?) said Stan Lee due to his fame. Even though he's most commonly associated with Silver Age Marvel comics, he's technically a Golden Age creator as well.

JasonF 06-23-09 12:18 PM

Re: Comic Book Sheep is here!

Ok, even though most people are hanging out in Movie Talk, I'll dribble a few of these out. We'll really get into the game in earnest once The Bus wraps up the Movie Talk version.

Question 2

Bob Kane, who created (or co-created with Bill Finger, depending on who you ask) Batman (11): MHepburn20, dadaluholla, ivelostr2, Trevor, Rockmjd23, MBoyd, brianluvdvd, Prepper, fumanstan, Hokeyboy, Lokimok
Stan Lee, who cut his teeth working on Timely's characters during the Golden Age (7): Meatwad's Ghost, fujishig, reverie, The Bus, Mordred, Bandit03, burnside986
Jerry Siegel, co-creator of Superman and a slew of other characters (5): JasonF, Nick Danger, dvdhook, CaptainMarvel, Palaver
Steve Ditko, who didn't actually break into the comics business until just before the Silver Age (0): davidh777
Will Eisner, who created the Spirit and revolutionized the way comic book pages are laid out (0): maxfisher
Joe Simon, who collaborated with Jack Kirby throughout the Golden Age (0): RKilgore

Let's also give a shout-out to C.C. Beck, creator of Captain Marvel, who did not get mentioned -- not even by his creation's namesake.
