Dave Stevens (Creator of Rocketeer) - RIP

Dave Stevens, creator of Rocketeer passed away yesterday from complication from leukemia.

Mark Evanier's obit for Dave Stevens

Wow, I'm really shocked. I got to meet him about 5-6 years ago, and he appeared fine, so the news of his passing at such a relatively young age is a sad one. RIP, Mr. Stevens.

That sucks. Rest in peace, Dave.

Damn, that's awful. I love his stuff.

Bronkster 03-11-08 04:55 PM

Whoa, that's truly sad. R.I.P.

I never read any of his work, but 51 is way too young to go. RIP.

Damn, man.

:rip:

That's terrible. He made a huge contribution to comics for someone who wasn't exactly prolific in his work.

Here's hoping for some quality reprints of all of his Rocketeer work. I was never able to find "Cliff's New York Adventure".

A truly fantastically talented artist and writer. His Rocketeer series is a classic.

So sad.

I loved his work. I never got a chance to meet him or tell him that. That's something I'm trying to do more often, tell people how much I appreciate them, their work, how they inspired me, whatever.

Is it selfish of me that it is one of my first thoughts when hearing of someone I admire passing?
