Do left-handed people really shoot the same way but with the arrows on the other side? I figured they'd hold the bow the opposite way too.

I'm right-handed, but yeah, I think they'd pull the bow with their dominant hand.

the point is that the arrows should be resting on or above the hand holding the bow - not on the other side of the bow.

Also, what about bow strings? Or does Shaft has some kind of magical, invisible-string bow?

Not invisible, but something do with gravity. It's a bit technical.

Ah, yes. I only read a few of the original "Youngblood" series, and haven't kept up with him. But that does ring a bell now.

I don't think the colorist knew what to do there, so he enhanced what appear to be two kneecaps there.

See, Rob's allowed to rip off Deadpool, since he created Deadpool. Nevermind that Deadpool was created as a ripoff of Deathstroke.

Actually, most of the characters Rob has "created" are ripoffs of another character.

How is he a ripoff of Deathstroke? He's got Spidey's mask, he gets put in Spidey poses, and he jokes a lot. I know Nicieza used the Wade Wilson name as a joke, but as a kid all I saw was a bad guy Spiderman with weapons (and I was a huge NTT fan).

Apparently Youngblood was a failed/rejected Teen Titans pilot (with Speedy as Shaft). I'd give him more grief for that, but hey, Cockrum used some failed Legion designs for the X-men...

As bad as that cover is, the bow position is correct for a right-handed person. As a lefty, I'd just be pulling back with my dominant hand and the arrows would still be on the same "outer" side (left, again).

Mercenary, Sword, Guns, going after a teen team.

Rob Liefeld, a fan of the Teen Titans comics, showed his new character to then writer Fabian Nicieza. Upon seeing the costume and noting his characteristics (killer with super agility), Nicieza contacted Liefeld, saying "this is Deathstroke from Teen Titans." Nicieza gave Deadpool the real name of "Wade Wilson" as an in-joke to being "related" to "Slade Wilson", Deathstroke

Google Image search for "archery" disagrees.

This HAS to be tongue-in-cheek. They HAVE to be intentionally ripping off Hulk and Captain America... right?

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

This:

Shaft! Bloodwulf! Foreplay! Bloodstrike: Assassin! Die-Bold! Shogun!
does not support this:

A more mature comic than you might expect from ROB LIEFELD.
Unless they're using the "tits and gore" definition of "mature".

I mean, I can kinda excuse "Shaft" for an archer. But Foreplay and Die-Bold? -rolleyes-

Yes, this was after Rob was fired from Captain America, so he did a bunch of goofy shit like this to take out his agressions on Marvel.

I think he had already completed some pencilled pages for the Heroes Reborn Captain America title, when he had been fired. I saw some pencils for his Agen America character and yet the character is wearing Captain America's uniform. So probably he didn't want all that work to be wasted and just slightly altered the pages and renamed the characters slightly.

But a lot of his characters seemed to be based off of Marvel and DC designs.

No way that drawing of Smash wasn't traced from something else. It's got feet and toes and everything...

Oh wait, never mind, the changing size of the characters, the awkward proportions, the weird poses... it's all there, carry on.

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

Liefeld has created some characters that are thinly disguised versions of Marvel and DC characters.

The Hulk is a giant green brute who gets stronger the madder he gets. Smash is a giant purple brute who gets bigger the madder he gets.

Wonder Woman hails from Paradise Island and was raised by Amazons.
Glory hails from Paradise Isle and was raised by Amazonians.

Namor is the ruler of the Atlanteans, an aquatic race of people.
romaN is the ruler of an aquatic race of people.

Has he ever created an original character? A single one?

Well, he did create Cable.

And, when he moved to image, he did about a dozen rip-offs of that character. (Supreme = SuperCable! Prophet = Young Cable! Sentinel = Black Cable! Chapel = Black Cable! With a skull painted on his face! Battlestone = Cable with braids! Cabot = Cable with a ponytail! )

Supreme was actually a rip-off of Superman.

Yep - I went through an archery phase for about 5 years in high school and college. The arrows are definitely on the wrong side if he's right-handed.

Rob's leaving DC.

Rob Liefeld Quits DC: ‘The 0′s are my last issues’

Rob Liefeld has talked about quitting DC before, but it looks like this time it’s for real — and with a firm end date.

On Twitter, the writer/artist stressed that it was his choice, saying he “Officially got off the DC52 treadmill this morning,” and “I believe in what DC is doing, but had to preserve my sanity.” He continued, acknowledging, “This is the 4th time I quit in the last 4 months. This time it will stick.”

Liefeld is currently writing and drawing Deathstroke, and plotting and co-scripting Grifter and The Savage Hawkman. In a Tweet, Liefeld said that September’s “0′s are my last issues,” which would be contrary to what’s been solicited for October and November, with each month listing Liefeld in his current roles on the three books. He disclosed that Scott Clark, who has been illustrating Grifter, will be replacing him on Deathstroke, and that long-time Liefeld associate Marat Mycheals will “continue the work on Grifter.” In further tweets, Liefeld addressed his reasons for leaving, including, “Massive indecision, last minute and I mean LAST minute changes that alter everything. Editor pissing contests,” and, “Last week my editor said ‘ early on we had a lot of indie talent that weren’t used to re-writes and changes..made it hard’. Uh, no, it’s you.”

Liefeld has been involved with The New 52 since its inception, first as the artist (and later writer) of Hawk and Dove, which ended after eight issues. In January, one day after the news of Hawk and Dove‘s cancellation, he was announced as coming on board Deathstroke, Grifter and Hawkman. Keep reading Newsarama for more information on the future of Liefeld’s three books.

Guess he's going to focus on his Extreme universe full-time now.

See you Rob you hack. Now I can start reading Hawkman again.

I can only hope last minute changes were "Learn how to fucking draw Rob" and he got pissed and left.

Like I said, he needs to take some art classes. Here's his chance.
