Rob Liefeld - Worst comic book artist ever?

I couldn't help but do another one. Some really minor changes and it can actually look decent. The leg in the background is so out of place unless it was torn apart in three places. The knee is way to far down and the angle of the foot is all wrong. I Removed the foot and pulled up his boot.

I didn't see an Avengers Vs. X-Men thread, but felt this was a great place to make this comment.
Does ANYONE like Romita's art now? I think it is flat-out TERRIBLE. Probably the 1b to Liefeld's 1a.
And they have him drawing the big crossover event book this year. Ridiculous.
Edited - Added the "now". I actually did like some of his stuff on DD back in the day.

In the first panel, Wolverine looks like he was drawn by Kate Beaton as a joke.

(Added a link for those that may not get the reference)

I can't believe that after roughly 20 years in the business, he can't bring himself to admit he sucks (because what artist that draws superheroes for a living can't draw hands or feet!). Everyone should boycott his crap until he takes some life drawing classes!

Claws are way too long. Unless they can retract into themselves, they can't be longer then his forearms. Any longer and he couldn't bend his elbow or wrists with them tearing through his arms.

I think he eventually got better, but when Greg Capullo first took over X-Force, the art was, at best, a dog's breakfast when he wasn't doing a straight-on drawing of a figure.

Hmmm, I loved Capullo from his first issue of X-Force. I actually think he got worse after his McFarlane association.

I thought Capullo was good on Quasar but he definitely changed his style for x force. Or maybe it's the inker. I still liked him better than Tony Daniel who took over the title later.

Like I said, I loved Capullo and was disappointed when he left after a relativley short run. After he left Daniel, and Matt Broome were doing fill ins and I preferred Broome but I thought Daniel improved quite a bit during his run and I ended up actually liking his art towards the end and then when he moved over to his own stuff I thought he was really good.

I remember Daniel morphed his style for the AoA Gambit and the Xternals issues, enough so that I thought someone else drew them. I actually liked those issues. But it was probably the inker. Speaking of AoA and morphing styles, there's Roger Cruz, master swiper.

I can't believe anyone pays him to produce the kind of shit he does. How does the Deathstroke editor get those pages and not insist on throwing them in the trash and starting over? I saw the book yesterday and it is just terrible. All throughout the book, the characters' torsos are oddly drawn and everyone is misshapen. Maybe he's back to inking while driving or something. Regardless, he's shit and should have been blacklisted ages ago. That he is in demand with editors at the big two while guys like Breyfogle and Byrne have been out of favor for years just irks me. I guess I shouldn't be blaming the editors. It's likely more the fault of readers who pay for this crap that puts Liefeld in demand.

Damnit, now he has a top page interview on CBR:

When asked about Hawkman:

When asked about Hawkman:
"Savage Hawkman" seems to have kept a lot of the same story ideas and plotlines in place from Tony Daniel's run. What about that series struck you as the kind of story you wanted to complete, and how has having artist Joe Bennett remaining on to provide some continuity aided in your run?
I was not aware of any of the previous storylines past issue #1. I just read the premiere issue and saw that Carter was attempting to burn his armor and started figuring out a direction that I could take the character that would create the most potent stories.

And look at the costume design. Really? That's what Lobo wears now? And whoever that redheaded guy is? And look at redhead's sides/hips in the first panel. Poorly drawn and the way costume lines curve just don't work at all. And, surprise! Poorly drawn feet on Lobo in panel 1. Oh, fuck, everything is poorly drawn in panel 1, why should the feet be any different?
Redhead in panel 5, I don't know what that guy would look like from the front perspective but it wouldn't be pretty.
IIRC, that's Zealot entering panel six. I love how the hand guard on her sword is off to the side of her hand rather than the front. Has Liefeld ever seen a sword?
The rest of the book is just as bad, if not worse, as what is shown above. Arms and legs attach oddly to characters' bodies. Torsos are stretched or stunted. And there's a frontal shot of Zealot (I assume it's her, I didn't actually read any of it and, truth be told, I didn't look at the panel too long because I feared that its overall badness might burn out my eyes) that is wrong on so many levels. The anatomy, the costume lines, the torso, everything screams "amateur". Or at least "hack". And did he get a special contract that says he doesn't have to draw backgrounds anymore?
I admit, I used to buy Liefeld's New Mutants and X-Force. During the initial Image craze I bought Youngblood. But I haven't bought any of his work in years and years and can steadfastly say that I never will again. I hope that this issue of Deathstroke convinces whoever still finds his stuff interesting to drive off of a cliff. Or at least stop supporting his work. Enough, I've said my piece.
EDIT: I found the Zealot page I was referring to. Linking because it is huge:

the reigns of Deadpool are being handed over to comedian Brian Posehn and G4's Gerry Duggan.
To further defend him for that Hawkman "I only read issue 1" remark... what the heck are the editors doing? Where's the stinking editorial direction for the new 52 that would keep some level of consistency and planning for the line?

Has ANYONE ever been able to explain his popularity? Is he a super nice guy? Gives good BJs? I have no idea what it could possibly be.
