Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

I like how he couldn't even be bothered to center the sword blade in the middle of the oval he drew for the guard. It appears that the grip must be passing through the center of that other guy's wrist. Besides that and the foot it's not a terrible cover.

However, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the signature box say "After GC"? I assume that means he stole the layout of the cover from Greg Capullo, which might explain why it doesn't really suck.

As I understand it, "after XXX" usually means it's a tribute or homage. Here's the original Greg Capullo cover:

It's funny how Liefeld had two perfectly good feet to model after in the original image, yet he still manages to fuck one up, and hide the other one.

Aren't cover tributes usually for iconic, or at the very least "good" covers? That jut looks like he ripped it off and decided to cover his tracks by going to "homage" route.

Has anyone ever talked to anyone who enjoys his art? Somebody must

Hmmm, looking at that Capullo cover I'm more confused then ever about the second foot. It's physically impossible for it to be behind the arm.

And in the Capullo cover there is at least some sweat coming off ot Cable's head to give the idea that Deadpool did connect with the kick, there are some lines of motion with the knife in Cable's hand. It looks like the two are in the midst of a fight. The Liefeld image just looks so static.

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

Just solicited from Image Comics for November:

BLOODSTRIKE #34

Cabbot awakens on a mysterious island – prisoner of a powerful foe. Meanwhile, back home, a new Bloodstrike Force is assembled to deal with a dangerous rogue group that is dealing vigilante justice on a global scale. A deadly Brigade has arrived and nothing can be the same again. Shaft! Bloodwulf! Foreplay! Bloodstrike: Assassin! Die-Bold! Shogun! A more mature comic than you might expect from ROB LIEFELD. Rated Mature for sexual content and extremely violent situations!

I dunno. I kinda dig the cover.

Not a foot to be seen.

Also, the archer's arrows are on the wrong side of his bow.

What's up with Bloodstrike's right knee?

Wait, is this a continuation of the old series or something?

I'm not understanding how the big thing in the back is holding that cannon type device? It's pointing in an impossible direction if he's holding it with his left hand.

Maybe it's his arm? Does that character have cannons as arms?

I had to stop and consider whether the character on the right-side actually has 4 arms or if it was just a Liefeld screw-up.

Hard to believe that he has consistently sucked for years and has never even attempted to fix or work on his short comings.

I remember when he was drawing the Punisher and Frank had like...triangles coming from his top lip. Fucking terrible.

What's up with the multiple-arm dude coming out of Bloodstrike's pouch - or Bloodwulf coming out of his back?

I just noticed how tiny Shaft is compared to everyone else.

He's left handed, so it works.

I didn't realize he had already brought all of the 90's properties out. I mean, I knew about Prophet and Glory but not about Bloodstrike, Supreme, and Youngblood. Is there a Brigade book too?

I'll give him props for handing the reigns over for a completely different direction for Prophet.

Was there an initial direction for this direction to be different? I remember reading Prophet but don't remember anything ever happening in it.

Today, from Leifeld's twitter:
I'll be doing dramatic readings of some of my comics work at upcoming appearances. Who doesn't want to act this stuff out right?? Stay tuned
I wonder if he'll be wearing pouches...

I'm right-handed and back when I owned one, held the bow like he's holding it. But the arrows were on the other side.

Do left-handed people really shoot the same way but with the arrows on the other side? I figured they'd hold the bow the opposite way too.

So how does Image get away with ripping off Wolverine? The middleguy is pretty much Deadpool.

As for the guy fighting Hawkman, seems it would be painful to somehow be itching your armpit with your foot.
